  3. Padding your post count for the next award cycle, I see.
  4. That is often exactly what happens. All the post-page load content can push and shove stuff down the screen.
  5. As we gear up for another season of Cubs baseball, it's time to look at the community members who made North Side Baseball great over the winter. Hello again, Cubs fans! Twice a year, I sit down and find the most popular posts and blogs on North Side Baseball and their creators receive prizes for their contributions to this rapidly-growing community. There was a lot to talk about with the Cubs this offseason. We look at the most popular posts and most popular blogs created by our users. Let's dive into the most popular content of the offseason. Most Popular Post Some of you may not be able to see this post from @imb and that's by design. Did you know there's an extra forum in NSBB that only unlocks after you've been here for some time and contributed enough posts? Well now you do. This forum is old. While the current incarnation only launched a year ago, the forum has been around for more than two decades. In this wildly popular post, imb takes a look back at the forum and humorously points out that while some things change, some people stay the same. Congratulations imb, for this excellent post you take home this wooden Cubs puzzle! Most Popular Post Runner-Up While imb wrote many paragraphs in their post, @InSeungHo took the tried-and-true route of driving by with a smartass comment during the Shohei Ohtani madness of the offseason. And it's a good one. Well done. Most Popular Blog Entry Listen, NSBBers. Write some user blogs or @Transmogrified Tiger is going to keep taking home the goodies! In typical TT fashion, they drafted this compelling look at Aaron Nola, comparing him to Jon Lester of yesteryear. For their efforts, TT takes home this cool vintage Cubs pennant with a copyright of '69. NICE. Most Prolific Poster As always, we highlight the poster who earned the most "points" during the offseason. You are awarded points for creating content and others liking your content. This is a pure numbers game and this winter, @Sammy Sofa takes home the glory. Thanks for all the content all winter Sammy, even if some of it is... questionable... at times. That's all for this winter, folks. Give a round of applause to all of those mentioned in this piece and we're only two weeks from Opening Day! View full article

  7. The door is always open whenever they'd like to walk through it...
  8. We're looking to take a step forward with our coverage this year and I hope some of you can help me out here. Are there any young Cubs writers that have caught your attention recently? Bonus points if they're sabermetrically-inclined. Looking for emerging talent, hopefully in the Chicagoland area, who have a solid presence on social media. I'm not nearly as looped into the Cubs landscape as most/all of you so if you have leads, please post them here!
  9. Boras does this with many high-profile clients. I know he was at both Twins pressers when they signed and re-signed Correa.
  10. Epic link drop. Just stellar work.
  11. Various sources, second hand. I'm not the "rumors guy" but I know a handful of people who are. And they're legitimately plugged into rumors. We've been doing this for a long time (over a decade) and I get scuttlebutt from our text chains, which are overwhelmingly accurate. The addendum to this is that I'm talking about it on a forum, not writing about it on the front page. That means it's unconfirmed but probably, at least in partially, accurate.
  12. I found out about the Cubs offer after I typed the post about the Twins and Giants. 🙃
  13. I've also heard rumblings the Cubs had an offer well in excess of $100m out there but it appears Bellinger wanted to trust in himself on the short-term deal with opt-outs. A fascinating situation.
  14. Interesting tidbit: heard a rumor (unconfirmed) that the Giants and Twins offered more than $80m in January.
  15. I kinda feel like the Cubs are done after the Bellinger signing but with Montgomery and Snell still out there, I feel that's a big mistake on their part. The NLC is wide open, just waiting for a team to step into the lead. And now that the Cubs aren't committed for 5+ years to Bellinger, they are no longer hamstrung by multiple long-term deals that could hurt them in 2028 and beyond. It feels like a pretty big mistake to not make a push for one of the two remaining pitchers, particularly Snell (though I find him borderline unwatchable, he's head and shoulders above Montgomery).
  16. I was wary of Bellinger for a few reasons but this deal mitigates a lot of that concern. Patience paid off for the Cubs on this one.
  17. Oh, I know, I just think it's horsefeathers. The Cubs should not be afraid of literally the first luxury tax threshold.
  18. I mean, getting two of the Boras four should be the goal at this point. It's kind of maddening that it is not.
  19. No big deal, your vote counts, it just didn't count Ferris.
  20. Thank you all for voting and we have a new top prospect! Winning by only two points, Cade Horton! 21. He won’t. Would you like me to clear your vote so you can vote again?
  22. I'm looking for someone to help with the rumors section of the site. I'm finding that I simply do not have the time to manage that properly anymore. I'd prefer that the person manage rumors for the Twins, Brewers, and Cubs but that's not a requirement. It would be a paid role and a pretty nice/easy side hustle for people who find themselves sitting in front of a computer all day anyway. PM me if you're interested or if you have questions, ask them here.
