  1. It's not hard at all to fill the role. Nobody though, is gonna be as good as Marmol. But the Cubs have to weigh their options. If the Cubs can get a huge upgrade in the OF will it be enough to overcome the likely downgrade in the rotation and bullpen? I think it's worth a shot. I doubt Marmol in 2008 will be as good as Marmol in 2007, too. It would be incredibly rare for any reliever to have years that good back to back. And I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that they find somebody who, while not as good as Marmol, surprises heavily on the upside in 2008. I am hoping it could be found in house. No need to pay some reliever another ridiculous contract. I am praying it will be Woody, but not counting on it. Im not sold on Jeff S. just yet, but I do like the Veal & Ceda options. This is a very good topic, IMO. I hope the current Cubs brass or future Cubs brass will talk internally this offseason about it.
  2. Now thats sarcasm right? Yes, apparently something I am not good at conveying. Sorry for the confusion. LOL...nice FF reference though. There is a fear factory in this division!
  3. Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27 Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31 Player A, please. Way to cherry pick stats! You conveniently left off the most important ones. Ks, Zone Rating, RBI, and BA w/ RISP. Are you saying all of those stats are more important than OBP, or OPS?
  4. Hendry is just giving them a better trade now so that in the offseason all they will need to give the O's are a couple of scrubs for Tejada. Or something like that.
  5. It took you one post to describe how I feel about him. I don't know why it took me like 15 to do the same yesterday. I will blame the storms!
  6. Me want Dunn on the Cobs!
  7. I admit I was one who hated this trade. I'd eat some crow right now. The season has a long way to go so I hope he keeps it up. Id like to say I helped him on his way though. Ever since the 7/28 game in Cincy (which I attended) when I was ripping on his pathetic OBP he went 2/4 and his obp (total) was .265, which he hasn't seen since.
  8. Ward just pulled a Jones. So frustrating!
  9. This isn't old. At all. Hendry's crappy signings are. Ted Lilly...good. Marquis...decent. Soriano...good. DeRosa...good. Howry...good. Eyre...decent. Rammy...good. Z...good. Well, here's my opinion. Ted Lilly...good. Marquis...crappy Soriano...good (but may not worth the money in a few years) DeRosa...good. Howry...ok (but not worth the money) Eyre...crappy Rammy...good. ( but there are looming signs with injuries) Z...god
  10. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20070823&content_id=2165531&vkey=pr_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc We got cash in the deal as well.
  11. It may be the only thing he took into account. :P
  12. Right, because Lou is such a terrible manager. He just does dumb stuff all the time. He certainly isn't getting the most out of this team. Right, thats what I said. I think it would be terrible if he filled in for Murton & Floyd a lot more, meaning he would face a lot more righties than lefties. His splits prove he can't hit righties.
  13. I don't see the point if he replaces Murton on the team. Like said above, I would rather have him than Fox right now but thats not saying much. I didn't know what his SLG was in comparison to the team, that does make me turn my head a little bit. I still think the trade wont benefit the team greatly, and I will gladly eat crow on it. Raisin is correct, he better not face any righties.
  14. Jock can't hit LHP can he? Monroe's good good power and splits vs. lefties. His splits against lefties in his career .277/.321/.501/.822 aren't anything special. He has only hit 2 hr's since the break. He's the right handed Jacque Jones. I just dont see the point of this trade. My comparison is based on what he brings to the table, which is the same as Jacque overall. Does anyone honestly think Lou will use a straight platoon? He hasn't all year, why would he start now?
  15. What a stupid post. Its stupid to think Jacque and Monroe are similar? Or that the trade is pointless?
  16. It's always fun to have a guy who is a legit threat to hit a HR off the bench, and nothing more. But he hasn't been able to do anything against RHP this year. Need to keep his playing time very limited. DO you think Lou will be limiting his playing time? I see him filling in for Floyd & Murton a lot more. Which is terrible. Lou may even try to play him in CF. See you in a few weeks Fox or Pie.
  17. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6773/career;_ylt=AjtPmeuKqzYoq.u1fg8VI.yFCLcF I thought we had this guy, his name is Jacque Jones...
  18. Where does MAXIM fit? I prefer the non-fiction stuff to feed my imagination, the fiction stuff to feed my knowledge. I'm split.
  19. According to WGN radio 720am the rain should be outta here in 30 - 45 minutes. Sit tight.
