  1. Would not have mattered, really. BCB Which....Walker being slow or the call? I always want the right call. Either/Both........actually, I could use some ether, would help with the pain. Well, I will leave that for the Bombay Sapphire for later! BCB
  2. Unfortunately the boat they are cruising on is called the Titanic! BCB
  3. You think the socks would trade McCarthy to us? Maybe we could say Williamson is Matt Karchner in disguise, and he will save their season? BCB
  4. I guess this means if the Cobs were batting, they would not have scored? BCB
  5. Pure class! One of my all time favorites! BCB
  6. Could tell Garland was once a Cubs product, 110 pitches thru 6. Dude, we are so close to breaking out, the horses are pacing, we need to start galloping-Johnny B BCB
  7. Priceless! BCB
  8. Please, attack the post, not the players! This is starting to sound a little like the deck chairs on the Titanic, which of those chairs was the best one? Where did it look the best again? BCB
  9. Wake me when this happens, because they have yet to hire someone who can do this. The best GM the Trib has hired since they have taken over was Dallas Green, and even he had his shortcomings, but looking at the line of GM's over the years, he was the best they have had. BCB
  10. Florida went for it in 97 or 98, I don't remember off hand, won it all. Then took it all the way down, sold off everything, sold the team, started over, and won it again in 2003. Sold off everything in the off season, and are starting over once again. No question, they will win another WS championship before the Cubs do. The problem with doing A and B, is that when we do A, and bring payroll way back down, there will be the same theory about NOT signing a certain player in the name of fiscal responsibility. Until someone comes up with a plan and who can target players that need to be brought in and bulit around to build a winner, which no one has proven to be able to do, we will see more of the same. As strange as it sounds, Andy MacPhail did more in his tenure as GM than Jim Hendry is proving. If I was running the Trib, espcially after signing Hendry to an extension, I would fire him asap, after seeing this disaster, and the overall mismangement of a minor league system which was "supposedly stocked" only 3 years ago. Give MacPhail the job, along with his President role, tell him he has 3 years, and if after that time, if we are not consistently winning, it is his head. My personal feeling is the whole lot of them should be fired, but after his extension, not very likely, nor is Andy's head not going to happen. I do think Dusty will not be back, so to make the best of what is left, I would also let Hendry go(which will not happen now) and put Andy in charge to save on cost, because that is what the Tribune is all about. 11. The other thing was when Nevin first came over, after starting one game, he was sore because it had been so long in-between starts for him, and had to sit out the next game. After these last couple of weeks, he must be getting rub downs nightly in the trainers office. Funniest thing I had ever read was that he had to sit out because he was sore after one start at first. It was not like he was coming back from injury or anything, just rotting on bench in Texas, but you would think he would be keeping himself in shape at least, getting his hitting and fielding in, it wasn't like he could not do these things everyday because of injury. Could you imagine a team like the Yankees making a trade for someone like Nevin and after starting the first game, telling them he can't go the next day because he was sore? He would be on the next train to Columbus, but yet our manager comes on and tells us how long in-between starts it has been for him. Really shows the mentality of the 2 teams. BCB
  12. First, you are assuming that Nevin has some value, I would argue if he does, it is very, very little. But for the sake of argument, let us say that he does have some value, and if that is the case, then I think you are giving Dusty and management a whole lot of credit for figuring this out. My guess is that it is Dusty being Dusty, playing the vet over the kid, but I will say that as of late, Murton has given him very little reason to play Murt over Nevin. At this point, everything is almost pointless, except getting a kid some playing time over a vet, but that has always been Dusty's mantra his whole managerial career, although he has disputed this. BCB
  13. I rather like the idea of sending a number of guys on this team to the glue factory. If the team doesn't get any better when all these guys come back, would you call it a horsegag? I was thinking we could call the team that plays in Wrigley the CUBJ, completely useless by June.....or July, take your pick. BCB
  14. Too late, I don't need that stat to tell me that this team is really, really, really bad! Have to hand it to Jim Hendry, I would have never guessed he could get so little bang for this buck, but this team keeps proving this over and over again. It does not look like things are going to get better any time soon. I know, I know, the horses, the horses.....unfortunately most of them seem to be nothing more than a bunch of nags. BCB
  15. Another donation to JDRF. I wonder if they will be able to correct this problem before they have to start the clinics? BCB
  16. Walgreens is hurtin today with all these walks the Cobs are taking, this is probably the most they have have had to donate to JDRF. Don't worry, Dusty will have his coaches out early tomorrow morning to correct that problem! BCB
  17. All they have to do is go 52-33, for a .612 W%, the rest of the season to finish at .500. And ensure that Baker gets extended! BCB
  18. 26 pitch inning by Kolb, how Wood-like, or Prior-esque. And he didn't even get out of it. What happened to him in Atlanta? BCB
  19. I think they just figured out where the starting gate is! BCB They found the gate after it was pulled away from the track and put in storage. It was probably taking up too much room for the clinics they were holding before the games, it was best to put the gate in storage. BCB
  20. I think they just figured out where the starting gate is! BCB
  21. Has a team ever gone an entire moneth without a win at home? And I am not talking about the times where the season spills into October. BCB
  22. Walks kill, dude. Just glad I don't have to announce and sit thru everyone of these games, sort of like the chinese water torture. You know it will ultimately come. BCB
