  1. March so he may be ready by spring training? the guy had reconstructive surgery on his elbow. granted, it's not his shoulder, but still, he won't be the same. Actually he should be exactly the same. there's no way of knowing that, for every josh johnson or strasburg, there's darren dreifort or scott williamson but it's no longer the death sentence it was. There is no reason to think he won't be come back. Scouts are actually looking for college kids that have had it already. most of the big busts had it 10 or more years ago.
  2. guys with TJS Stephen strassberg marino rivera kerry wood john smoltz joakim Soria chris carpenter ryan dempster francisco liriano phil humber tim hudson david wells billy wagner josh johnson

  4. which is fine. he'll be ready next year, and probably on a count. He is a guy for 2014, not next years spring training. Now a says scouts look at prospects who have already had TJS as a bonus because they shouldn't have to worry about it.
  5. Right now you still have 3 starting outfielders and campana. Add in, they grabbed DeJesus for very little last year(and johnson for that matter) no reason to think they can't adequately fill the OF if Jackson is involved in any trade. You have to have pitching, pitching, pitching. You have pitching prospects you can deal them to fill any spot on the field...and usually for a proven commodity rather than a prospect. heck, I'm sure we could flip on of these guys for Carlos Lee!
  6. come on...earpiece up the sleeve, up the back of the neck and in the ear. no one will know. sidenote- don't cheer or show any emotion during trades!
  7. sports net central anchors are discussing the rotation without Dempster, Garza and Maholm expecting them to be gone and AAA guys getting their shot. would have been nice to get Soriano to SF. Taking care of that deal AND possibly forcing the Dodgers to respond.
  8. best part of tonight is that I'm on twitter and the SCORE guys are about 15 minutes behind you guys! heck, they should be here getting their info- then it might seem like breaking info
  9. Cincy would be fine. Helps someone besides STL win the division and Dusty will ruin him, so we won't be antagonized by him in the future.
  10. I said it earlier but of names out there, if a team is pretty sure this is a mild injury, there is as much or more value in Garza than in Johnson or Lee, etc. Garza will be Garza but those guys may never regain there top form. Texas, for instance, can wait a few times through the rotation for Garza simply because they are 4 games and don't need help urgently, just sooner or later.
  11. 17 year old from the dominican means he is really 14 or 27.
  12. ready for this? matt abbatcola just retweeted that Texas says they have made no deals tonight...
  13. We were thinking it was just them messing around. Baker is still in right. I got it from twitter, but now they just showed Dempster chewing seeds on the bench. Nearly turned my stomach...
  14. The panic was a bit over the top but with this team, you can easily say just about any signing was unnecessary. If we didn't sign Johnson, we would have been where? He had a really solid year, and now gets to play with a contender to perhaps finish his career. Good for him. If he doesn't retire, he might be back here next year.
  15. maybe they just had to make sure they have enough to finish this game,
  16. Not the pitcher I thought would go first but if they were giving Del gado for Dempster, I can see Del gado here. Maholm has been a stud, and he is under their control for a while, ups the value over a rental like Dempster. Let's hope!
  17. an arm. Remember we are talking about a catcher who has been below the Mendoza line for most parts of the last 2 years not the 2008 guy.
  18. So, why pull the Smokies? someone has to play in AAA and the big club...
