  1. Something tells me this post is going to lead directly to another ten pages of replies. Apparently not. It's almost worth keeping this post up so people can see that someone out there still thinks we can bat CPatt 2nd... And this is constructive how?
  2. Something tells me this post is going to lead directly to another ten pages of replies. I apologize, but it's a thought that I've been sitting on for a little while. I know Patterson has had some issues, but I truly believe it's because no one has let him settle into a specific role at the plate. I would be happy with that as an outfield. I guess that's just me though. I'm still of the mindset that Patterson could turn it around with another organization. I don't think he has much of a future with the Cubs, but that's just me. I think he can with the Cubs if they just give him a set role. You can't tell him you want him to be an rbi guy, then turn around and have him leading off expecting him to bunt at every opportunity. He's been mishandled his entire career, but I think if they get Pierre to hit leadoff, that will help him out quite a bit.

  4. What if we were to hold onto Patterson, and put him in right? We'd have pierre lead off, and let Patterson hit in the 2 hole. I don't know about everyone else, but I think that would be a great plan. At that point we can have a very speedy 1-2, and Patterson can drive in Pierre. I think if Patterson isn't leading off, and management lets him do his thing, and not try to push a certain mindstate on him this would be a great set-up.
  5. So what did Wood have to say when he was on the show? I didn't get to hear it. Also just a quick question. When I was in high school one of our pitchers threw a no hitter, but lost the game due to errors. Now would that have been a horrible game for the pitcher because he lost 3 to nothing?
  6. I work retail, so Thank you, come again.
  7. I think Gary Payton's going to sue for trademark infringement.
  8. Well let's take em back, and hold them this time.
  9. Unfortunately I think in the end the Win total is going to play a factor in it, so at this point I'm going to say it goes to Carpenter. I'm actually for Carpenter winning it at this point because I'm sick of the media hyping Clemens to no end.
  10. With Hill going tomorrow, I'm kinda disappointed that I'm not going to be able to make it. I've gotten to see Welly pitch here a few times before, so I'm wasn't too worried about missing it. Oh well they're coming back at the end of August so maybe I'll have my chance then.
  11. I just want to say that Dempster has guts. A lot of guts.
  12. Hairston started in center for Iowa today and ended up going 1 for 6. He did get to shag some flies though, and last night I think he was 0 - 4 with a hbp.
  13. Mitre pitched a nice game. Van Buren got into the game, and from what I can tell he is a nice set-up guy. He has some really nice stuff. He had Adrian Brown from the Royals looking pretty bad on an offspeed pitch. Sadly I will not be able to report on anything tomorrow because I won't be able to get out to the game. Notables Cedeno seems to be a little rusty at the plate, but he did flash the glove quite a few times over the weekend. I'm very impressed with this kid. The bullpen for Iowa seems to have some issues. Forgive me for not knowing some of their names(haven't really payed much attention other than the big name prospects), but the today's and last night's games were lost late. Friday's game was really put out of reach by the pen. Someone else might be able to help me out with this, but why is Wellemyer starting tomorrow. I don't recall him ever working as a starter with the pro team, so why don't they work him out of the pen in Iowa?
  14. I will try to give an update from the Iowa game when I get home tomorrow night guys.
  15. A little later in the evening, and I have guzzled much more beer, but I will try to be ledgeble. He seemed to be very nice with his curve, and he kept a lot of the Royals players on their toes with it. I don't know if he's ready to be our #5 pitcher yet, but he does have nice stuff. BTW how long has Lewis been at the AAA level. I haven't really followed the minor leagues, but this forum might change that.
  16. Just got back from Omaha, Brownlie pitched a pretty decent game overall. From what I could tell on the radar guns(I couldn't get a really good view) he was hitting 91 - 92 on his fastball. I wasn't able to see a whole lot though. Kelton was picked as a player who if he strikes out the crowd wins a prize, and I was so glad to see him have a decent night at the plate. The game was pretty well lost by Valdes. He had a lot of problems with his location, and they gave up six in the bottom of the eighth to take the loss. Hairston played tonight as well, and had a hbp, and if I remember right that was the only time he reached base. So anyway tomorrow, I'm going to go see Mitre pitch which will be my third time seeing him.
  17. I might try to get behind the scouts tonight so I can see the gun. I can let you guys know if you're curious as to what he's hitting on the gun.
  18. I went to the game tonight, and after showering to wash the filth that was passed on to me by Sammy the Sausage, I am here to give my interpretation of the action. First thing right away I noticed Leicsterhas some control issues still. He started off the game right away getting into trouble, and it seemed the entire time he was getting out of it. He did give up a long home run(considering the wind was blowing in tonight). Bartosh had the same type of problem with location. He was only in an inning, and right off the bat he walked the bases loaded with one out. He they ended up scoring in what proved to be a long inning. I had to miss most of it because I was on a smoke and beer run. i'm going to go tomorrow night, and hope to see them win. Cedeno does have a decent arm from what I could tell, and if they the Cubs don't re-sign Nomar next year he should be our starting shortstop. I would say more, but a lot of it is fuzzy at this point, and I'm going to start working on a few things. This is a link of the wrap from the Royals website(I can't find the Cubs link, so this will have to do. Later
  19. Of course he gets called up right before Iowa comes to Omaha to play so I don't get to see him. Bah!
  20. In a little note of Irony I just got a sheep when I bought my serta bed, and it's number was 44. I started talking to my wife about the Wilson incident, and when I got home, I found on my cpu that Farns was in another brawl. God I miss him.
  21. To protect Ramirez's bat.
