  1. That is a scary read. Goodness gracious.
  2. So many pitchers are put in bubble wrap these days and still break. What a crock.
  3. Im not surprised they're #2 in pulled flyball rate. The approach is the same. But theyre not hitting them hard as frequently as they were.
  4. I was gonna say 2007 AP put up like 500 yards on us so that must have been a fun game to watch for him
  5. I mean dude he wasnt going to complete that no-hitter in any universe. He could have pitched one more inning, max, in today's environment. And what would that have accomplished? The team was not going to win that game. The offense didnt even deserve the run that they got.
  6. I posted this in the last game thread but the team hasn't been able to take the heat since the break. Like what the hell? 1st half/2nd half Cutters - 17.6 (2nd)/ -7.5 (29th) Sinkers - 11.6 (3rd)/ -9.6 (23rd) 4 seams - -6.5 (14th)/ -16.3 (26th)
  7. They struck out 9 times last night. Even just focusing on the 2nd half in which they've been a below average offense, they have the 9th best K rate in the league, 7th highest contact rate. Theyre making plenty of contact. The problem is theyre not pulling the ball in the air with authority as frequently. Thats really what it boils down to. The hitters are making a lot of mid contact up the middle and in the alleys. The gb% has gone up a mere 2 points. They've gone from the best in the league to 10th, which is notable but not disastrous. The hard pulled airball contact has dropped off a cliff. Guys are not getting the barrel out as quickly as they were in the 1st half. In particular we went from being excellent vs sinkers and cutters in the 1st half to really struggling with them in the 2nd half, and all year we have not been good against 4 seams. 1st half/2nd half Cutters - 17.6 (2nd)/ -7.5 (29th) Sinkers - 11.6 (3rd)/ -9.6 (23rd) 4 seams - -6.5 (14th)/ -16.3 (26th) It's puzzling how you go from smashing those 2 pitch types to being completely neutralized by them over a fortnight.
  8. Mason Miller just threw 9 sliders, only 1 in the zone, and got an immaculate inning out of it lol 100% swing and whiff rate
  9. I mean they waited until GameDay week to announce he had beaten a rookie 2nd rounder and a prior UDFA for the job.
  10. Long reminds me of JD Martinez a little bit
  11. Cubs unlocking Gomber would be funny
  12. Did not think we were going to hold them to 3. Excellent job by the pen again.
  13. I would not try to wring another inning out of him. His fastball command is not there.
  14. Alcantara is gonna have a big game. Multiple XBH, probably a homer.
  15. Such a weird little sport - Shaw and Happ leading the offensive charge in the 2nd half.
  16. The Brewers indisputably worse with their deadline acquisition. Miller missed time earlier this season with an elbow issue and felt a pop in yesterday's game. But nobody says anything because their offense didnt horsefeathers all over themselves for a month.
