  1. According to Steve Stone, who apparantly saw Fuld quite a bit in the AFL, he does everything better than Pie except run (and that's nearly a direct quote). Just his opinion, of course, but I wonder if there's that great a difference between the two. Norm
  2. In the upper extremity: medial=ulnar lateral=radial Norm
  3. From TSN.ca: "Has a deceptive delivery that makes his 90-mph fastball look hotter. He backs that up with a strong change-up and solid curve. Has learned to keep the ball low and in the park. Flaws His command can get him into trouble at times and he doesn't have one truly dominant pitch." Don't know about "in the park." 12 HR in 54 innings last year.
  4. I'll bet Hendry sees him as a starter. He's young (26) and was always a starter in the minors. Norm
  5. Lee had an undisplaced Colles' fracture, the radius and ulna at the wrist. He had no surgery, hence no pins or screws. He was in a cast for, I believe, six weeks: first a long one for four weeks, then a short (below elbow) cast. Injuries like this are common and usually heal without any problems. You're right that all fractures are different, and some wrist fractures can be devastating, but that isn't the case here. Still, it typically takes six to nine months to really get back to normal from an injury like this, and even then there can be complications like recurrent tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome. I imagine he'll be fine by spring training, though he might require a little more time off than he used to get before the injury. I believe Jeff Kent had a similar injury about five years ago. He's done fine, though I heard he had to have a small procedure on the wrist when he was in Houston. Hope this helps.
  6. Does the National League get the first draft pick in 2007? That is, if the Cubs finish behind the Pirates in the "Fecal League," do they get the number 1 pick regardless of what Tampa Bay and KC do? This is what Phil Ragers seems to imply in his column this past weekend ("Marlins catch prime pitchers"). I apologize if this has already been discussed. Norm
  7. I'm convinced that we are assigned certain things at the time of our births, along with our DNA: golf handicap, taste in women, club loyalties. Otherwise, nothing would make any sense at all. Norm
