  1. dude that's the same article from early yesterday just with a different title
  2. http://stations.espn.go.com/stations/espnradio1000/blog?id=3738908
  3. I can't wait until they give him 5/80 so his yearly IP totals look like this 123.2 111.1 141 125.2 223
  4. I agree, but I don't think Lou thinks that way. I remember during the season people got annoyed at the way he'd stack the lineup with all righties against LHP.
  5. Do you really think they look at stats that closely? He bats lefty. I like Fontenot, love his plate approach. But is there really a difference between him and DeRosa? It's just handedness. Bradley can bat lefty. BTW, I like Bradley, always have. Well I'd hope that they look that closely at statistics. The whole point (for them) is to add a good lefty. Bradley isn't good as as lefty. I'm not saying I care... I want Bradley and I don't really care about the lefty stuff anyways. It would just surprise me since Lou is so smitten on every available lefty... lefty
  6. bradley is a + half win defender abreu is a - 1.5 win defender in other words, bradley is $9M more valuable than abreu on defense alone and theres a decent offensive advantage for bradley as well Any kind of fielding statistics on Bradley were probably compiled a few years ago when he was healthier and actually played some OF. Plus... you know.... they're fielding statistics
  7. You do realize that we slapped CC around when we faced him dont you? 2.78 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 15/3 K/BB against the Cubs last year Didnt we chase him after like 6 innings both times we faced him? Faced him 3 times.. he went 6.2, 7, and 9. Anyways, I think the guy was happy that he's out of the division because it makes the Brewers worse.

  9. hopefully marshall gets traded to the pads
  10. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12102008/sports/yankees/yanks_close_in_on_sabathia_deal_143481.htm i'm flabbergasted
  11. I'd be kind of surprised if they got Bradley, considering Lou's obsession with adding a lefty Bradley career as LHB vs RHP- .270 /.362 /.436 Bradley career as RHB vs LHP- .303 /.387 /.504 I'm not saying I care... but I could imagine Lou and Jim caring since they desire a lefty so badly. Im not sure they're going to choose a guy who is a .798 OPS guy as a lefty
  12. So who could the Phillies be interested in if it isn't DeRosa or Marquis?
  13. So what are the chances that this deal is actually agreed upon already but we won't hear until later this week? I don't think that's the case, but this quote shows that it's very possible.
  14. but ibanez is worse they're pretty close...uzr has abreu a bit worse but how many games has ibanez actually played in rf? meh, RF LF, same howry not really. derosa was alright in right field but we all saw how bad he looked in left. there is a learning curve 21 innings? you are basing derosa's LF prowess off of 21 innings of anecdotal observation. (btw UZR had him as completely average, but again, its 21 innings). Albert Pujols went 0 for two and a half games...true story. Another example of why people really shouldn't pay attention to defensive metrics. DeRosa himself said that he was having trouble in left field because of the way the ball comes off the bat different wnd what not. Now, I'm not saying Ibanez will be like that since he has played much more outfield than DeRosa, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think there might be a bit of a learning curve and he could be slightly worse in RF since he is so used to playing left. If it was as easy as you say, I think we'd see a lot more guys bouncing from left to right and vice versa.

  17. A part of that article that I like With Harden is the rotation Marshall is very valuable. If we were giving up DeRosa AND Marshall that would have killed out versaility in pretty much every area of the game
  18. man, you guys think the last 2 offseasons have been frustrating for us.... think about how derosa feels. if he ends up getting traded i'm glad it's to a good team in a good baseball city where he'll be appreciated. it would suck a lot more if we were trading him to the royals or something
  19. i had a nice long sabermetricy post that proved that pujols isn't that good....but it got earn by a login timout monster and im not going to type it all out again
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3757369 That's basically the same article that was posted early today.. just with a different title and a few new quotes.
  21. well towers himself said that nothing will happen until thursday at the earliest
