  1. they are the opposite of the cubs. instead of flaws being exposed in the postseason, they have special abilities that don't show up until the playoffs. that's just straight up awesome GMing from coletti
  2. first of all, it's 6 games. i have no idea why you're talking about the last 3 games of 2003 since only 1 player remains, as for the "flawed" stuff, if by "flawed" you mean they choke, then yes. again, if you want to talk about this group of players not being able to handle the pressure that's fine. i can understand that, but don't act like it's anything other than that. dominant offenses don't have these supposed flaws that go undetected for 162 games and then immediately show up in the playoffs. you have no basis or reasoning for any of this. you're just talking out of your ass and looking for reasons that aren't there. they choked. bottom line. nothing more. they choked. if these same players were "speedy and athletic", they would have still choked.
  3. today must be so much fun for philly fans
  4. umm that's pretty much exactly what you said. your exact quote- and you keep talking about how the offense is flawed yet you don't explain why and we keep showing you that's it's not. you make some weak argument, we expose it, then you ignore it and start something new. you- "we need more speed and athletisism" not you- "but we led the league in runs" you - "well we feast on bad pitching and can't hit good pitching" not you - "actually, it's been proven that the team hit good pitching well" you- "i never said they didn't! stop putting words into my mouth you loudmouth!" and so on
  5. this team kind of reminds me of the 2008 rays, except there were some expectations for this team (unline the rays). i don't think anybody thought they would be this good though.
  6. why? because you said so or because he was one of the leaders in the league in OBP? And don't give me that garbage that leading off the game & (likely quite a few more times due to the fact that the pitcher makes the last out of the inning more frequently than not) an inning is overrated. I would far prefer to lead off an inning w/ a walk or single than a whiff. no, it's because you shouldn't give the most PAs to one of the least productive hitters in your lineup, period. theriot was a real nice on-base guy last season but you don't give a singles hitter more PAs than anybody on the team. lineup construction is not really that important and certainly not important enough to do that. i know it's hard for you to accept that having a "leadoff hitter" isn't really important though. stop talking about it. we scored the most runs in the league with soriano leading off last season. i don't understand why you don't get that. plus i don't think theriot comes close to matching last years production.
  7. is Theriot Lee Ramirez Soto Soriano Early Season Fukudome DeRosa Johnson/Pie/Gathright too much to ask for? no way in hell theriot should get the most PAs on the team
  8. Why? Either they'll make the playoffs and have another great chance or they'll suck and not make the playoffs at all. I don't buy this stuff about them only being good enough for the regular season. They just choked
  9. Also some guy in another thread said that Bruce Levine said that the Cubs have now been asked to not spend any more money until the ownership situation is resolved, which won't be until mid January. He said that Cubs probably don't even have authority to sign Bradley right now
  10. so your theory is that our offense is built entirely on guys who destory bad hitters but are completely helpless against good pitchers, while other successful playoff teams' offenses are full of guys who hit pretty well against bad pitchers and pretty well against good pitchers. yeah, that's a perfectly reasonable conclusion.
  11. There have been other similar things reported elsewhere too. Also I read a quote from Hendry like a week ago where he said that they wouldn't have been able to take on Peavy's salary, which is kind of weird considering he said in the same article that they tried to work out a trade. Kind of confusing. But yeah, that Dempster signing looked terrible to begin with and now it's just looking worse and worse
  12. not only have the bears choked, but my second team (bucs because i live in tampa) is choking even harder. 9-3 and then they lose 4 straight and are going to miss the playoffs after blowing a 10 point 4th quarter lead at home to the raiders. awesome day kind of cool that philly has a chance now though. that seemed highly unlikely a few hours ago
  13. 19-6-7 Yeah great Chicago can boast of 33 games of good hockey. Maybe we can make the playoffs for the first time in 7 years white sox
  14. why? i'd rather have them win so the entire bears team can feel like crap about how the division was handed to them and they couldn't take it
  15. put it in the endzone
  16. if they score i hope it's a touchdown
  17. just put it in the endzone. embarrass these soft vaginas
  18. season over. we can't stop them and this next score will put the game officially out of reach. might as well have gone for it
  19. wait, what happened? gameday showed a -8 yard pass to olsen at first... now it says +10
  20. lololol @ this team
  21. embarrassing performance by the defense
  22. andre johnson touchdown approaching
