  1. seems like a pretty good time to post this oh, and im in love with sarah spain
  2. am i missing something? he's gven up one goal
  3. I don't think everybody liked the idea of Heilman, just not the trade itself. It seemed like he should have come cheaper. Olson is not great, but he should have had more valuable than a reliever coming off a horrible season.
  4. I'd like to keep it at a 10 team league, but we'll see how it works out. I won't go past 12. AVG R RBI SB HR OPS W SV K ERA WHIP BB/K We need a few more so I figured I'd post it on here to see if I can find somebody. I'm not sure if people would be comfrotable sending 20 bones to a stranger, but you don't have to worry about getting ripped off. The draft is set for Sunday the 29th at 7 PM ET, but I just started the league and we could move that around once everybody is in and we know what works for most people. PM me if you want in and I'll give you the ID and stuff.
  5. well when we're talking about the number two slot, to me obp means a whole lot more than slg. which is why i think he's a great 2 hitter. that and the fact that he can move runners over, hit to the right side on a hit and run, etc. "Give your "best hitters" the most opportunities in a lineup". that's a flawed theory. by that logic, your best hitter will bat leadoff and always bat after your worst hitters, which will result in fewer chances to drive in runners. nobody said you have to construct your whole lineup like that. fukudome should get on base just as much as theriot next season, probably more
  6. So you're already congratulating yourself on something that hasn't even been proven yet. You're way ahead of schedule
  7. lol If you're being unbiased I don't see how you can say there was nothing wrong with what he said. He basically admitted that he sat out on days he could have played because he didn't want his numbers to take a hit because it might cost him money the next season. How is that "telling it like it is"? Shut up Milton. We're tryng to like you. Just shut up. If he's not putting up good numbers then he's hurting his team. except that's not what he said. he specifically said that he sat out to help his numbers and future paycheck.
  8. Theriot needs to bat 8th. why? Because hes not that good? among regulars he led the team in both average and obp last year. if that's "not that good" then what are the rest of the players? better convincing argument. theriot is good in his own ways, and obviously has deficiencies as well. but to say that the guy who got on base more than every other player on the team last year "isn't that good" is just stupid. depends on how you interpret "isn't that good". i don't think that he meant theriot is bad. really, a .746 OPS isn't that good. his obp was very good, but obp isn't everything. it's nice to hit yourself past 1st base every once in a while. more than anything though, i don't expect him to match his avg/obp from 08. i think he'll be more .290/.360
  9. Theriot needs to bat 8th. why? Because hes not that good? among regulars he led the team in both average and obp last year. if that's "not that good" then what are the rest of the players? better
  10. So he's admitting that he's selfish and kind of a douchebag props to him
  11. Ben would be a second option on good to great teams. Incorrect. Why not? He averages 20 points and is usually the go-to guy on a terrible team. How many players who score 20 a game are not the second scoring option? Citing PPG by itself is getting dangerously close to citing RBIs
  12. lol If you're being unbiased I don't see how you can say there was nothing wrong with what he said. 13. Only if you're talking about numbers of at-bats
  14. Are you still pretending that it doesn't have a chance? Pretending what doesn't have a chance? The Peavy trade? I never said anything about that. The same reason that I thought everyone understood by now....for money and to "get more left handed". But mostly for money. I didn't think anyone still pretended it was for Peavy
  15. Spring training performance shouldn't really change any opinions
  16. Also what does DeRosa have to do with Peavy? Are we still pretending those prospects were acquired for a Peavy trade?
  17. But you have reason to believe that his OBP will drop over 20 points from where it's been so far? I'd guess he puts up something like .285/.360/.435
  18. Michaels Young belongs in the top 5. He is one of the most overrated players in baseball. He had that one great season in 05 and then a few good-but-not-great seasons and that's it. An .820 OPS SS with bad defense who just turned 30 is not worth 5/80. That's awful. Not to mention the only reason his numbers are even that good is because he plays in Texas. Now you're paying a 15 million a year for a poor defending .750 OPS guy who isn't even at short anymore. Awesome.
  19. Well he doesn't have to hit .300, and there's no reason to think he can't put up a .350+ OBP.
  20. Ben played great for most of the time, but he gets greedy and decides to take 27 foot three-pointers which I am not a big fan of. He will score 40 and give up 40. Who DOESN'T give up 40 to Dwayne Wade. I feel like I'm the only Ben Gordon defender in the entire world. But wait until next year when he's gone and the Bulls are averaging 83 points a game and sitting at 4-17. I think you think Ben Gordon is wayyy better than he is
  21. Yeah and then Harold said the Cubs will miss Cedeno more than DeRosa. I've lost a lot of respect for Harold since this network started.
  22. He's averaging 17 million a year. I don't know how you can even try to argue against that. If he's making less right now, that doesn't mean anything since he'll make up for it later. Like I said, saying "he's earned his contract up to this point" doesn't mean anything if it's going to cost you later... just like if we signed Miles to 5/50 but only 500k in each of the first 2 seasons it would be meaningless to say "well he's earned his up contract up to this point". You could get into those kind of semantics all day long, but he's averaging 10 mil a year just like Soriano is averaging 17 mil.
  23. Harold Reynolds just said the Cubs will miss Cedeno way more than DeRosa. [-(
