    again, i never argued anything about the matchup. on paper, yeah.. it's one of the lesser matchups ever. i just thought you were selling niemi short by seemingly comparing him with leighton, who sucks. niemi doesn't suck. and im not saying fluery sucks. i'm just saying i don't understand how you can call the guy "very good" when he's been pretty mediocre for his career.

    no, fleury is very good. cam ward is good too. not really. those guys reputations seem to be living on their draft status and stanley cup runs. especially fluery marc andre fluery has had only one good season. the rest of his career he's been mediocre to bad. cam ward is a pretty solid goalie now (not great), but he was atrocious during the regular season before his cup run. if we're talking about goalie matchups heading into a final, he was a worse bet than niemi. so i don't get it, are you saying that osgood sucks and niemi is good? because they're pretty similar, both put up very good numbers behind great defenses. your assessment of fleury is laughable. i never even said anything about osgood. and you can say what you want aobut my assessment of fleury, but where are the results? can you please show me? he's had exactly one good season, and one average one. and like sponge said, my friend in pittsburgh always bitches about fluery and shares the opinion that he's still living off his cup run hype. i just don't understand how you can possible call fluery a "very good" goalie when the results usually aren't there.

    marc andre fluery has a .907 career save percentage, and was at .905 this year. he's only had one year over .912. really, fluery has to be one of the more overrated players in the NHL at this point.

    NO Do you think there's a chance he could make Rose even 1/50th as good defensively as Ronda? That way Rose would only be half as good as Ronda overall. Dude, Rondo made Thibodeau, not the other way around. You know that. You could let Derrick play with a sword, outlaw calling any kind of violations on him and he'd still be worse than Rajon. Somebody's jealous of those MVP cheers Rondo was getting. I wonder how many more seasons it will take for Rose to win his first playoff series. (Rondo won a title by this point btw) you're really stooping to counting titles and playoff series? rondo is better than rose, you don't need to do things like this.

    i just meant that you're selling niemi short by implying that he's part of a "bad goalie matchup". leighton is the only bad goaltender in this series. the better question would be "is michael leighton the worst goaltender to play in a stanley cup?"

    I know we've been burned as Cub fans and maybe it's hard to wrap our minds around our team being the better team but, one can slice it a million ways. And it'll lead to the same conclusion the Hawks are the best team in the NHL. They bested the Sharks, they'll beat the Flyers as well, no matter how many ways we try to manifest the Flyers as something more than they are. oh i know, i'm not arguing any of that. i'm just saying it's really unfair to san jose to say we dominated them. they could have easily won 3 of the 4 games. but yeah, the hawks are definitely showing they are the class of the NHL this year

    Stop pretending like ERA doesn't matter. If we're examining four seasons of stats, it's a valid way of arguing a pitcher's decline. no it's not. pretty much every other stat has been pretty consistent over that period.

    nah, the hawks didn't dominate san jose. the only gamethe hawks significantly outplayed them was game 2. the other 3 games could have easily gone either way. really, with a few more saves from nabakov and a few fewer from niemi, the sharks could realistically be up 3-1 in the series right now
