  1. By August, the best pitcher in KC's rotation will be Luke Hochevar.
  2. You're interested in Garcia despite the drop in velocity? I'd pass.
  3. We'd be trading Gordon as well in that deal. Gordon + Deng + Thomas + a definite lottery pick. Definitely not. Plus if that deal actually happened (God forbid), we'd be seeing much more of Griffin and Khryapa. That's ridiculous. Chris Mannix and/or the Timberwolves have ridiculous expectations for Garnett. And that's before you consider Paxson's trading history.
  4. Yeah, Deng + Thomas + a lottery pick? No.
  5. Dontrelle? Miguel Cabrerra after he trades Crede for Lackey?
  6. Former Cub Justin Jones was also taken with the 6th pick of the Triple-A portion of the draft by the Nationals.
  7. I gotta agree with goony, seems a bit too major to be quickly back at the phones no matter how routine those angioplasty procedures are these days.
  8. Yep, he's pretty much the best young pitcher the Astros have right now (although some people argue Troy Patton is better, but whatever). I'd be one of those some people. :) Good trade for the White Sox, even though Taveras is vastly overrated. It's becoming obvious the Sox are stockpiling young guys for a trade (Floyd, Gonzalez, Hirsch).
  9. Wow, Dayton. Better hope that Meche can turn it around.
  10. Frankly, I expect the Cubs to trade Fontenot. They don't seem to think he can be a utility guy at all.
  11. Campusano and Holdzkom are equally big losses, imo. Both have positives and both have negatives (Holdzkom: health and control, Campusano: health) and are close enough to sticking for a full season. I was surprised Campusano was selected because the Cubs hid the status of his health really well. Cubs lost in the major league portion: 7. Milwaukee: LHP Ed Campusano - traded to Detroit 17. Houston: RHP Lincoln Holdzkom 21. Toronto: SS Jason Smith Minor league portion: 2. Kansas City: 2B Richard Lewis 26. Oakland: RHP Andy Shipman In the minor league portion of the draft, the Cubs picked up RHP James Henderson from the Nationals.
  12. Not to mention they can't play any of those three in center because of Slappy. Right. And they're looking at Luis Gonzalez. He is a bottom 5 GM in the majors imo. Let's see.... The Dodgers got Schmidt and Wolf The Cubs got Lilly and might get Meche You forgot Juan Pierre. Nomar, Part 2? I'm calling it, but I hope I'm wrong. Disagree, I think signing Juan Pierre to that contract wasn't a good move.

  14. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/features/262799.html Their Top 20 prospects for 2007 from Baseball America. Pretty sure none of them are on their 40-man Erbe and Reimold look to be good to look after I doubt the Cubs get a top-10 prospect from the Orioles for Bynum. I'm expecting a Carlos Perez-type.

  16. Tigres beat the Caribes 6-4, box: RP T. Atlee 0.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K/0 BB Leones win 6-3, box: C H. Angel Guzman (Navegantes): 8 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 8 K/0 BB, 0.00 ERA, 0.38 WHIP, 7 GO-8 FO
  17. Felix got the day off in the Tigres loss to the Gigantes.
  18. Tampa has sold the #1 pick to the Oakland A's who will use the pick on San Diego RHP Joakim Soria. MILB.com anticipates Kansas City will use the second pick on Colorado RHP Pedro Strop. Also:
  19. Culiacan lost 8-7, box: 3B C. McGehee 1/5, RBI (30) Overall: 55/180, .306/.372/.433/.805, 5 HR, 8 2B, 19 BB, 18 K, 1/2 SB, 10 E
  20. Wish I coulda seen the game, stupid work. Six in a row!
  21. Comparing Schmidt to Carpenter is apples to oranges since one is on the open market and the other is under team's control for two more years.
