  1. Guess who has two thumbs and won tickets to see Justin Upton and the Visalia Oaks in Rancho Cucamonga in two weekends? :D
  2. 90 wins should easily win the division.
  3. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/prospects/features/263794.html As of May 3rd, Jim Callis has this happening: 1. Tampa: Price 2. KC: Detweiler 3. Cubs: Wieters 4. Pittsburgh: Vitters 5. Baltimore: Moskos But then he says this in a chat yesterday:
  4. Woo, I'm leading scorer so far this week (that won't last).
  5. I'm driver on both these bandwagons. --------- Game summaries: Iowa: Cubs and Sounds Split Doubleheader Tennessee: Smokies Take out Barons 4-3 in 11 innings Daytona: Mets Out Hit Cubs in One Run Game Peoria: Dolis, Chiefs Shutout South Bend
  6. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Ryan O’Malley (0-2, 4.88 ERA, 24 IP) Tennessee: RHP Kevin Hart (2-1, 4.84 ERA, 22.1 IP) Daytona: RHP Jesse Estrada (0-0, 5.12 ERA, 19.1 IP) Peoria: RHP Jake Renshaw (0-0, 2.70 ERA, 10 IP) O’Malley: 24 IP, 9 K/7 BB, .323 BAA Hart: 22.1 IP, 17 K/5 BB, .250 BAA Estrada: 19.1 IP, 18 K/5 BB, .250 BAA Renshaw: 10 IP, 6 K/7 BB, .222 BAA
  7. By the way, the Cubs are getting a joint-VSL team running this year with the Twinkies. Good to hear that we'll actually be having a team this year, but how will splitting a team with the Twins work? Will we each sign our own prospects and then play them together on the team? Yeah, neither team has enough players to field a full VSL team so they two teams will pull their VSL-level prospects on one team.
  8. Certainly, he had a good season at Mesa last summer. Good FB, great control. Only 18-years old...he better be in Boise this June. I'm loving what I'm reading about Alberto Cabrera too, especially given his size and stats from the DSL last season (I know craig is a big fan of Cabrera's too).
  9. Apparently AZ Phil also made a post about yesterday's action at Fitch: http://mvn.com/milb-cubs/2007/05/01/update-from-arizona-phil/#more-85
  10. Another AZ Phil report from Mesa: http://mvn.com/milb-cubs/2007/05/02/update-from-arizona-phil-2/#more-92
  11. Mephisoteles posted this story a while ago: http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/prospects/features/263059.html By the way, the Cubs are getting a joint-VSL team running this year with the Twinkies.
  12. Yay Oliver Perez!
  13. Wow, Justin Berg with 7 innings and gave up 1 ER. After giving up 15 ER in 12 innings before today. Tennessee just took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 11th.
  14. Gotta improve that control. Granted, he's nowhere near as bad as he was last season at Mesa, but still.
  15. I think the Devil Rays will be a good team here in a few years. The only club I would get rid of would be the Royals. I don't think they will be good anytime soon. I assume you've never heard of Alex Gordon, Mark Teahen, or Billy Butler? Or about the resurgence of Grienke? I think you'll find the Royals to more and more competitive each year. Why must you hate Luke Hochevar so much?
  16. Dolis and Ed Romero each have a no-hitter through 3 in the Peoria-South Bend game.
  17. Keith Law: Scherzer's Ft. Worth exhibition debut was rained out today. He'll pitch on Friday now.
  18. I would definitely consider claiming him. Why do this just to call up Les Walrond?
  19. Mitch Atkins *might* be back sometime this homestand. I sent an email to the Daytona broadcast booth asking what was wrong with Mitch. As my luck would have it, right after I sent it in, I had to do some work and missed their answer. Meh.
