  1. I think they might still be able to swing a guy around $1 million early today but it’ll require some senior signs too.
  2. Scheduled Game (All Times Central): DSL Cubs Blue vs DSL Mets 1, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red at DSL Pittsburgh Gold, 10:00 am All stateside teams have the day off
  3. Since FG’s Board is so great, we know that Cade Horton at a 45+ FV will rank either 6th or 7th in the Cubs system (with Cristian Hernández also a 45+). Ferris at a 45 FV will rank as high as 8 (accounting for the addition of Horton) to 16.
  4. I was posting Horton’s all over the place so here is a summary of his rankings: ESPN - 22 FG - 12 BA - 23 MLB Pipeline - 24 Prospects Live - 12 Between the two picks, the Cubs outdid their pick number with Pipeline and PL’s rankings, came very close to matching BA and FG and was about 10 spots lower on ESPN’s.
  5. Jackson Ferris… Drafted a prep lefty from IMG Academy (Gray) for the second straight year. Rankings: ESPN - 41 FG - 43 BA - 34 MLB Pipeline - 19 Prospects Live - 27
  6. Horton and Howard would have been a part of the same freshman class at Oklahoma if Howard didn’t turn pro out of HS.
  7. Ugh, Schultz was the guy I was hoping the Cubs would pop in the 2nd with their slot savings.
  8. It’s okay to just stop at “I don’t know anything about this stuff”. He's thrown 53 innings of college baseball and a TJ surgery already under his belt. 53 innings as a sophomore, including TJS, is reasonable and not a death knell to his SP hopes. I’m sure teams actually think the lack of miles is a feature, not a bug. As an example, Dylan Cease was drafted out of HS and then needed TJS at a similar age as Horton. Cease didn’t break 53 innings until his age 20 season, just like Horton.
  9. Yeah, I know. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati both killed it. Just one year, I want the Cubs to acquire comp picks.
  10. Horton shouldn't be anywhere near slot, at least I'd hope. He's got another year of college eligibility left, so they don't have a lot of leverage. He was projected to go 10-20, so they should. They probably already know his number. This is from Kiley McDaniel (he’ll get more than the $3 million Kiley mentions since he went too 1):
  11. I think most people are smarter to judge players on more than 2 good weeks or 3 good starts. Well, maybe other than the people running the Cubs. He was a top 75 prospect coming out of HS, despite being a 2-sport star who didn’t focus on baseball. Had a huge fall camp his freshman year and then needed TJS. He didn’t come out of nowhere. He was ranked as high as 12 by both Eric Longenhagen (FG) and Joe Doyle (Prospects Live).
  12. Always a good reminder that this board hated the Horner and Brennen Davis picks, as did a lot of Cubs Twitter. what about Little, Jensen, Howard.. Little and Howard were picked around where the publications’ ranked them so they were pretty well-liked. If you’re trying to slam me or something for “defending” the org, I don’t have much of an opinion on the pick and know better to judge draft picks based on blurbs and videos.
