    To add, there's a cap of 180 minor league players per org for the regular season. Not sure how close the Cubs are to the cap but that is one of the reason we saw a few recent releases/opt outs. You can expect most pitchers will not pitch but that's more due to rest.

    So the Cubs have $939,010 over slot they can offer Southisene and Lovich (and maybe Mangus). Southisene’s slot is $600,800. The 11th-20th rounders are $150k slot. For example, they could sign Southisene $1M, Lovich $600k and Magnus $250k and have about $20k left. That’s 3rd round money for Southisene, 4th round money for Lovich and 7th round money for Mangus.
