  1. Fernando Cruz went 1/3 today with a single, HBP but 2 strikeouts. Juan Archbold: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. It’s his second season in the DSL and he has some grow as a sleeper prospect when he signed in 2023.
  2. No way he falls to the Cubs but I’ll go ahead and get my hopes up for no reason.
  3. Yeah, mid-90s FB (T98) and a plus change. Had TJS his junior year at Oregon St (draft year, spring 2022) and hasn’t pitched since. It’s been a long rehab, so not sure how his stuff is now.
  4. Hunter Bigge back in Iowa, topping out at 98. Threw a perfect inning with 2 Ks:
  5. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa vs. Toledo, 6:08 pm Tennessee vs. Birmingham, 6:00 pm South Bend vs. West Michigan, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Augusta, 5:05 pm ACL Cubs vs ACL Angels, 1:00 pm DSL Cubs Blue at DSL Cubs Red, 10:00 am Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Kyle McGowin (at AA: 28.1 IP, 2.22 ERA, 2.16 FIP, 33 K, 4 BB) Tennessee: RHP Trey Supak (11 IP, 0.00 ERA, 2.76 FIP, 8 K, 3 BB) South Bend: RHP Nick Hull (39.1 IP, 5.26 ERA, 4.90 FIP, 38 K, 19 BB) Myrtle Beach: RHP Juan Bello (34.2 IP, 3.12 ERA, 3.32 FIP, 43 K, 17 BB)
  6. Mulé’s control is a definite issue at this level. 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 0 K Had 2 walks in each of the first two innings.
  7. Benge seems interesting. Athletic, good hit tool, more walks than strikeouts. If the Cubs area scout for that region (Ty Nichols) likes him, the Cubs will have Benge on their short list. Nichols was the area scout for Wicks and Horton so he’s had some recent success and the Cubs clearly listen to him.
  8. BA noted 12 of the top IFAs for next year’s class: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-mlb-international-prospects-preview-12-players-to-watch/ The Cubs are linked to one:
  9. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa vs. Toledo, 7:08 pm Tennessee vs. Birmingham, 6:00 pm South Bend vs. West Michigan, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Augusta, 6:05 pm ACL Cubs at ACL Padres, 8:00 pm DSL Cubs Blue at DSL Brewers 2, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red vs. DSL Brewers 1, 10:00 am Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Thomas Pannone (58 IP, 4.34 ERA, 4.60 FIP, 54 K, 18 BB) Tennessee: RHP Brandon Birdsell (44.2 IP, 4.03 ERA, 3.71 FIP, 36 K, 13 BB) South Bend: LHP Drew Gray (29.2 IP, 3.03 ERA, 4.65 FIP, 37 K, 28 BB) Myrtle Beach: RHP Nazier Mulé (2 IP, 13.50 ERA, 15.20 FIP, 1 K, 4 BB) ACL Cubs: RHP Freylin Silverio (12 IP, 6.00 ERA, 4.55 FIP, 15 K, 9 BB)
  10. Better video of Wiggins’ strikeouts:
  11. Also Yahil Melendez hit an inside-the-parker:
  12. Ángel Cepeda with a triple and a single too. Has his OPS over .900.
  13. Callis linking the Cubs to some interesting names.
  14. Will Sanders: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR on 72 pitches. The homer came in the 6th inning.
  15. Have to imagine Wiggins’ day is done. Hell of a low-A debut: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 40-28 pitches-strikes, 10 swinging strikes
  16. Wiggins struck out the side in the second. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. 7 swinging strikes His third strikeout came on a batter violation, but to be fair, he had an automatic ball too.
