  1. Brandon Taylor walks but is caught stealing a bit later. After 5, Boise leads 1-0. Jose Ortiz is coming in and 18-year old Scott Taylor's evening is over. The pitching line for the 2005 5th rounder: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 K, 0 BB.
  2. Thon hits a leadoff double in the 5th inning. Mayberry, Jr. grounds out 6-3. Thon holds. Herren strikes out swinging. Hooft grounds out 5-3 on an impressive spin play by 3B Brandon Taylor. Jose Ortiz warming up in the pen. Scott Taylor: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 K, 0 BB
  3. Another 1-2-3 inning for Taylor: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K, 0 BB Boise goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 4th too. After 4, Boise leads it 1-0.
  4. Curse that midget (only guy in baseball shorter than me).
  5. Not yet. The Boise broadcasts are awesome - they talk about EVERYTHING. They were talking about who the next Chief Justice would be, Boise State football, the Cubs minor league report, etc.
  6. Bottom of the 3rd: Jose Rios with a leadoff single. Jake Muyco grounds into a FC, 3-unassisted. Rios advances to second. Davey Gregg flies out to left. Jonathan Mota grounds out. After 3, Boise leads 1-0.
  7. Scott Talor works another scoreless inning, giving up a leadoff hit but getting him out on a caught stealing, 2-6. Taylor: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K, 0 BB Boise still leads the must-win game 1-0, midway through 3.
  8. Oh hush, you guys are going to go to the World Series again. Remember, we're hurting our draft stock here! We're making sacrificies too.
  9. The Hawks go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the second, they still lead 1-0.
  10. Yeah, but those numbers at AA are right up there with everybody else on the same list. Doesn't that qualify as a rebound from a bad start? Indeed, it's a strong rebound. But there are pitchers who had better stats for the full season, because they did better in April (Ryu, for example). Plus hes repeating the level Well, here we're just considering 2005 stats, so repetition of the level would not be considered. In a real prospect ranking, that should definitely be considered.
  11. Taylor gets another 1-2-3 inning, including 2 Ks. One of them was on another 2005 draft pick, John Mayberry, Jr., who struck out swinging on a changeup. Scott Taylor: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K, 0 BB Boise leads 1-0 midway through 2.
  12. Boise's bottom of the first: Davey Gregg reaches on an E-3 (throwing, to the pitcher who was covering first). Gregg steals second. Jonathan Mota singles to LF, Gregg holds at third. Chris Gaskin GIDPs, 6-4-3. Gregg scores, Boise leads 1-0. Johnny Defendis strikes out looking. Boise leads 1-0 after 1.
  13. I'm going to laugh if Rusch throws a perfect game after coming in slumping, and get a no-no before guys like Prior, Wood, Z or Maddux did.
  14. Scott Taylor gets a 1-2-3 first inning, including a strikeout of red-hot prospect Taylor Teagarden.

  16. Haha, the Cards playing like the Cubs today.
  17. I'm glad to see Rusch is finally pitching "true" for the first time in over a month.
  18. As a longtime Corey supporter who would like to see him given one last chance, I have to admit that I completely understand where you're coming from. It's very difficult to justify bringing him back. The only good reasons I can think of is there aren't any good available CF to replace him, and Felix Pie should not break camp with this team next year. He missed half of this season and prior to this season he wasn't exactly lighting up the stat sheets. I'd rather have him in AA or even AAA next April, showing that the first half of 2005 was for real. I'd like to see an improvement in plate discipline, most notably in the k/bb ratio, and he still needs work on the baserunning. Remember, the majors isn't a place to learn, at least that's what the manager thinks, and if he hasn't shown the willingness or ability to develop any other kids, there's no reason to think he'll do so with Pie. There's still an outside shot that Corey could have a decent season next year, if only they'd stop trying to turn him into Otis Nixon. No, I don't have much confidence in that happening, but I don't see much of a realistic alternative either. Sign Giles & J.Jones & either bench CPatt or send him back to the minors. He is no longer a capable big league hitter, which his performance the last two years has proven. His defense is stellar, but the big league is meant for good overall players & CPatt is no where close to the major league level for a hitter. He does not belong on anyone's big league club. I still don't get why anyone would still consider starting this guy in CF for 06! It boggles my mind. Everyone's entitles to their opnion, I guess! His performance two years ago was not bad, especially before he got tired in September (he had been working back from injury since January).
  19. Congrats to Ricky Nolasco and Brandon Sing for combining to break 5 Jaxx team records.
  20. I would: 2B Todd Walker LF Matt Murton 1B Derrek Lee 3B Aramis Ramirez RF Brian Giles (3-4 year deal only) C Michael Barrett CF Corey Patterson SS Ronny Cedeño SP: Carlos Zambrano Mark Prior Kerry Wood Greg Maddux Angel Guzman/Rich Hill/Sergio Mitre RP: Closer: BJ Ryan (free agent) Set-up: Ryan Dempster Scott Williamson Mike Weurtz/JVB Will Ohman Scott Eyre (free agent) I would love to get AJ Burnett, but I think getting Giles and Ryan would be better for the Cubs and I can't see them signing more than 2 big-name FAs (heck, I can only see them signing one). I would stay away from Furcal and Wagner.

  22. I hope someone from the media caught this..
