You don't have to, you want to. The interior line played better with the switch, luckily they did since both tackles were trash. They definitely blocked better, but there were a lot of bad snaps. Probably worth it, though. Basically the Bears probably need at least 2 new lineman next year. It would also be great to experiment with Bars and/or Coward on the outside and see if there's any chance there for one of them.

I think the most important thing was this was a fairly simple offense that Mitch was actually capable of running, unlike what Nagy's prior dumbed down offenses were.

Driskel wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. If the Bears wanted to draft a QB in the second and bring in a vet to compete with Trubisky (and carry 3 QBs) I'd actually consider throwing a couple mil at him. Nagy, let Mitch throw down the field. Scrap everything short that isnt a check down.

The Bears will face off against something called a Jeff Driskel and if they don't thoroughly dominate him this defenses run is officially over. Blow it up.

I think it's a combo of bad play calling that doesn't help mask his deficiencies and him literally breaking at some point this season, perhaps thanks to Nagy. I had rewatched the GB tape and felt it was almost all on Nagy and the OLine. The caveat being that some of the play calls looked so awful theres a good chance, and some evidence, the issue was Mitch calling terrible audibles. After GB Nagy seemed to way over adjust to it all, but didn't really do anything different to help Mitch and play to strengths and weaknesses just dumbed everything way down and took everything away for DEN. I'm sure the plan was then to slowly add back up to "offense 202" , and there was a slight loosening in the reigns against WAS, then Mitch gets hurt and his first game back Nagy goes into this pass happy overdrive Mitch is again ill equipped to run and a few weeks later Mitch still seems broke. Other QB may have dealt better with it, but Mitch seems to lack confidence right now and he doesn't have nearly the QB skills to compensate for it AND Nagy still seems intent he run his offense and not adjust it for Mitch at all, only dumb it down. Also I have no idea if this is a real thing, but I was always super annoyed how overly conservative they were with Mitch in his first year re: interceptions, and not wanting Mitch to turn the ball over and felt that it could interfere with his QB development. Here in year 3 he plays like a scared QB who only does one thing well- avoid interceptions. :?

the deep pass shows it, if it doesn't develop exactly as it was dialed up and wide open he cant decide what to do. That short stick route was exactly drawn up like it was supposed to. I don't recall issues like that last year. The second or third read being opening while he sat and took a sack, sure. But thus is something entirely new. The yips. Lack of confidence. Call it what you want but it seems to be a new regression above and beyond the averageness and inconsistency that existed last year.

Yup. Like, I have no problem with moving on from Trubisky this offseason (relegate to backup or have a open competition), but whether the Pace/Nagy braintrust is picking the next QB is a big question right now for me. Luckily for Nagy he still has 8 weeks to prove he is more capable than this, but man, this team just hasn't looked ready top to bottom in a single game this year, other than Minn maybe?

There was a stat last game that showed that he's basically stopped running since coming back from last year's injury. So he literally got broke. Cool.

They need to basically take away these short throws. He's not terribly accurate mid to long either but at least when a guy gets a catch it's a first down. These short throws require you putting a WR in a spot to get YAC and he can't do it. Maybe if he got any confidence back he could relearn the other throws. Run, PA, boot, middle of field throws. I'd feel better about Nagy long term of he showed a capacity to mold around his players rather than trying to continually force Trubisky into a role he clearly can't do. Or you have to go to Daniel to evaluate Nagy with a QB that might fit his scheme, but basically understand long term that Nagy is scheme limited.

Is there talk he'll actually be available? A multi year deal would be better if it could actually happen. It seals Pace/Nagy to Rivers and not another young QB who could require years to evaluate. With the Bears cap space, a multi year deal would allow them more creativity to fit him in without forgoing like, everything else Do not know but, he's listed as a UFA for 2020, would the Chargers put a franchise tag on him at 38-39? If they haven't lost faith in Lynn, I would think resigning is the most likely outcome. They can take another 2 year swing at things. They just beat a good GB team so it's not like they're falling apart like the Bears.

Like, I know it's not in the rulebook, but it's apparently one of your "rules" I'm insinuating. Go run the numbers and see if my “rule” makes sense instead of just saying it’s dumb. There’s a reason you hardly ever see anyone going for 2 in the first three quarters. Because NFL coaches are notoriously conservative? I'm not even necessarily arguing the specifics of today, but it shouldn't be a hard and fast rule.

That reads like Mitch is scared horsefeathers out there, what ever hope there is for his career as an NFL QB, he's got to say horsefeathers it and go balls out aggressive. There's no pressure now, why not be hyper-aggressive? He's gonna be the poster child for a guy who has some mini career resurgence for like one or two years in his mid 30s.

people talk about mitch but shaheen and white are spectactual sleeper busts as well Eh, I don't think any 2nd rounder can classify as a spectacular bust. Except that DE the Bears drafted who literally never made a NFL roster. I think he was a 2nd rounder, maybe 3rd.

He's like the equivalent of a carrying a pinch runner in the playoffs. He does one very specific thing decently that might come up in a game situation.
