  1. In the pick watch, Oakland probably finishes no worse than 10th from bottom. They are 6-8, with two road games against below average division opponents (Den, LA). Bears probably end up middle of pack (maybe they win week 17 if it's not meaningful for Minn) So Bears are probably looking at something like picks 44 and 49, give or take. That's about a mid 1st rounder on the trade chart if Pace decided to get aggressive.. :|
  2. I can't imagine Floyd is a candidate for an extension. It would basically require 1. Floyd really liking it here, 2. Pace saying he will be cut otherwise and 3. Floyd still really liking it here after that ultimatum. Obviously he hasn't hit his potential as a pass rusher, but in the 7-9M per/year range, he'd probably be a good value.
  3. Its hard to know how much Helfrich is to blame. Wouldn't be surprised if he's kept... No one's going to be calling for his head. Even with Mitch bouncing back some, at the very least a replacement at QB coach seems easy. Maybe Helfrich takes some of the fall there too, though. Wouldn't utilizing Mitch' strengths from Day 1 be a big step in right direction? We know the OL needs some help but, one of the few positives has been the emergence of Miller and to a lesser extent, Horsted/Holtz, they may found something at TE. Horsted/Holtz are interesting flyers, but I think they need to do something at TE. If they don't they have a lot of faith that Burtons issues are all injury related and that he can overcome them. Even then though, they really don't have a great in line TE option with Shaheen busting. There will be some decent TE FA is the good thing... Just gotta figure out how they wanna allocate what space they have.
  4. Current projected cap space: 11-15M (depending on where 2020 number falls) Cap casualties to watch Long (9.6 cap hit, 8.1 savings) Amukamara (9, 8) Floyd (13.2, 13.2) Gabriel (6.5, 4.5) Patterson (5.75, 5.25) Shaheen (1.9, 1.3) Braunecker (1.6, 1.5) Extension candidates Robinson, 15M cap hit. Only 2m in dead. Fuller, 17.5M cap hit, 9m dead Guess you could throw Floyd on this side too.

  6. Lol crack cubs medical staff using Dr Shin to treat an elbow injury.
  7. And it took 25 people to accomplish nothing. Wait until PTR looks at the expense accounts for all of those people with no results. End of year is only weeks away, maybe projected profits were running a little hot and they wanted one final large expense to write off.
  8. Better than Bryzzo.
  9. He isn't saying that. Obviously, if the Bears win all their games, their chances of making the playoffs increases. He is saying that if you simulated the season, say, 100 times, and then would looked at all of the instances where the Bears were in the playoffs, there would be more instances of the Bears being 9-7 and in than 10-6 and in, merely because going 3-0 is very unlikely. yes, this Wrigley. But the Bears going 2-1 likely means they lose to GB, and horsefeathers that. We're winning on Sunday. Gotcha. Still I don't think those odds would be right if you ran simulations. The odds of the Bears going 3-0 or Rams going 0-3 are both near nil. And even when we look at some hypothetical 0-3 Rams finishes theres probably a decent probablity of some 1-2 Bears finishes in there. So whatever chance of a Rams collapse, the Bears probably have equal odds to collapse and make the Rams collapse moot.
  10. Man, I still don't follow your logic. A 10-6 Bears would still be more likely to make the PO.
  11. I think a 9-7 Bears playoff team is more likely than a 10-6 one. The Eagles don't matter, they and the Cowboys are both 6-7 and they play each other. Neither one can win the wild card. What?
  12. Man I'm not too confident at all about the Rams dropping 2 of those.
  13. On the plus side if you attend the local HS you are a Flaming Heart.
  14. yes https://www.footballdb.com/games/boxscore.html?gid=2004091907 Holy crap, how did I not realize that the Bears somehow won at Lambeau 4 years in a row? (2004-2007) Since then they've won in 2013 and 2015 Was 13 the Thanksgiving game? Loved that one.
  15. I cannot get on board with this theory, that admittedly has been shared by many others. Mitch was throwing deep before, he wasn't intercepted becuase he'd miss everybody by 5 yards. He also had quite a few "should have been" INTs, and plenty of them on shorter passes as well. The INT last night was really bad. He was not pressured, had plenty of time to get rid of the ball, and should have just thrown it away (although I suspect the film will show he had some open receivers earlier). He's lucky the defense stepped up after Dallas started with a precision drive. He did play great and has rebounded nicely, but I am not for "the interceptions means he's trying more" mentality. His INTs are from bad decisions. From his first 4 games to his next 5 or 6, there was actually a jump in more aggressive/downfield throws per next-gen stats. Last night wasn't actually a great example, but teams having to respect the mid to deep field probably has probably helped to open things up for him in the short game where his lack of pinpoint accuracy isn't hurting him as much to set up big plays on short throws, like the screens that went for big gains last night. I had to transcribe these so hopefully no transcription errors; CAY= Average Completed Air Yards IAY = Average Intended Air Yards AGG Aggressiveness % (throws where a defender was within 1 yard) Y/A = Yards/Attempt WEEK CAY IAY AGG 1 4.7 8.30 26.7 2 2.9 7.30 18.5 3 4.4 5.20 3.2 7 3.3 6.70 5.6 8 6.7 8.20 22.9 9 6.9 10.2 14.3 10 7.7 10.1 38.9 11 3.7 7.00 20.9 12 6.1 10.2 22 13 8.0 8.70 21.1 14 3.6 6.40 25.8 2018 6.00 8.8 17.7 7.4 2019 5.17 7.9 17.9 6.2 My only other reaction, having re-watched most of week 1 was that the 8.3 IAY is probably a little misleading because so many throws were pure throw away's where the coverage was leaving nothing open. The times he was sailing it by 5 yards was probably the best choice.
  16. Over under on the percentage of the Bears fan base clamoring to dump Nagy for Rivera? 85%
  17. The Bears wear the striped throwbacks again Thursday. Some people think these throwbacks suck, and they are wrong.
  18. Since it probably requires winning out, I think hope is dead. That said, here's a scenario where Minn falls apart down the stretch and the Bears can still lose to KC and make the playoffs at 9-7! Let that unrealistic hope soak in baby. http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine/_/factor/wins/results/401127871~1~401128031~2~401127991~2~401127997~1~401128113~1~401128103~1~401127964~1~401127930~2~401128040~1
  19. We have a 37 game sample size. Of course the bar is low. Still it's hard to imagine a world where 76% completion with 2 drops, 336 yards, 3 TDs and a 119 QB rating doesn't meet whatever bar you could set. He passed the statistical and eye test other than 2 plays. Not sure if you're looking at your Thanksgiving leftovers, but that's a big ass table if he left a lot on it. He's still not good overall. But he was more than good today. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk He still threw a lot of balls that were close enough to catch, but not "catchable". That's going to be Mitch's issue, putting receivers in a spot to advance the ball. And Nagy's version of the West Coast with a lot of passes to the flats and stuff just won't work with Mitch. Today's version with a lot of PA that worked the intermediate field eventually opened up the long game and worked well, albeit against a bad D. Late in the game a few of those passes to Miller he was finally legit dropping dimes, which he's thrown maybe like 6 of all year. Near perfection is probably something Mitch isn't capable of, but today was a very nice effort that was perhaps a few critical plays away from a great outing. A this point theres been incrimental progress going on 4-5 weeks, so that's something at least.
  20. It was the right call on Floyd. Dumb penalty. Obviously doesn't mean the hit to the head wasn't missed, but Floyd's is just a clear and dumb mental mistake.
  21. Not surprised he's active, but I'm guessing Lucas will still start.
  22. The best we can hope for is the next time Pax steps down, JR accepts his resignation. Then hope Collins in a senior advisory role, advises JR on a replacement outside of JRs circle of comfort.
  23. Cordarrelle Patterson wants to solve the Bears TE situation, and with this group it's probably not the worst idea I've heard.
  24. Braunecker was just in the way of the Jesper Horsted train leaving the station. Choo Choo. All aboard. It's been mentioned that Burton is probably done as a Bear, is safe to assume Shaheen is done as well? Unless Burtons injury issues have permanently broke him, he's back next year. He may just be a really expensive backup, but you only save about 1M by cutting him against like 7 in dead cap. I guess he could get beat out by 53 other guys, but if he's back healthy, I doubt it. Shaheen is done baring a major offseason breakthrough.
