With a raising cap, its impact is definitely lessened to a degree. They are still in a pretty overall healthy cap situation and one or two of those isn't going to be a killer. Some of its just a guarantee/non-guarantee dance, and some of the space you created now could be for non-guarantees in future years which won't ever hit that cap unless the player is still productive and worth that cap. Also, with cap rollovers its also sometimes a "six of one, half a dozen of the other" scenario. Of course, if you're just really just 100% done with this team, any of that is bad. You want to do the exact opposite and no amount of backloading is reasonable. Most of this is true, but you can’t convert guaranteed money into non-guaranteed. The total cap hit remains constant (or goes up if you add guarantees), it just moves around in time. I guess it would technically have to be an extension rather than a restucture, but you could definitely backend some new non-guarantees you never intend to pay for a smaller new guarantee as a cap-cash trade off. That would be more the guaranteed-non-guarantee dance. In Fuller's case it is all timing. FWIW though, based on the article I read, I think it will only net them 4.5M in new space. The new bonus goes back to 2019, which will reduce their rollover by the pro-rated 1.5M in new 2019 guarantees.

A blog or two on my news feed are throwing his name around as a top of the list candidate. That would be a pretty fast rise... 1 year at quality control coach, 2 years as QB coach with what seems to be a generational quarterback, and then OC. The relative lack of experience compared to Shurmur and others is cause for concern, but he'd definitely be on the same page as Nagy. It's sounding like he wants nothing but Reid deciples this time around. I wonder what effect (good or bad) grabbing helfrich and hiestand from outside that tree/system had on what they were trying to do offensively Chief fans are already calling him, the heir apparent to Reid haha. First Bieniemy's situation has to get settled. He's already got 2 interviews lined up.

He's a safe pick for Nagy given their history. I would have preferred Callahan (Wash) or Matsko (Car). Yeah safe but competent works in this case. I too wouldve preferred those other 2. Could still bring in one of those guys as OC?

Could do worse. Could do better. No one seems more logical that Shurmur if not for the fact that it doesn't seem like Nagy is going to give up play calling. I wonder how much Nagy will prioritize the West coast/zone blocking schemes. Could he go college again? Chasing the RPO concepts Helfrich was supposedly hired to incorporate?

The tough thing about getting a highly regarded OC is that it doesnt seem like Nagy is going to relinquish playcalling duties, based on what was said in the press conference today. That has to knock the desirability of the job down a peg. I don't think those guys are going to be too highly regarded. They actually seem attainable, whether it's Turner and his assistants or just poaching a few assistants. Their OL/run coordinator and TE coach have like 50+ years experience, and aren't going to be getting prime positions if not brought over with Chico. Honestly they could probably do worse than hitting up the WAS and CLE staffs too. So they should be able to do decent with FA coach hires and not be as reliant on rejected interview requests from current staffs.

If not Shurmur, hitting up the old Carolina offensive coaching staff might not be a bad idea, if Rivera doesn't bring them over to WAS. Obviously having McCaffrey helps, but theyve been pretty good running the ball the past several years and have a lot of NFL experience on that staff.

Heistand is a bit surprising just because his reputation was so good. But its hard to see the OL play and not say there was an issue. Interesting that the one tweet says Helfrich and Heistand were "in charge of running". Wonder if theyll look at OL coaches brought in as OC/Run game coordinator and either amp up Childress' role or bring in another type of special coaching assistant. No news on Ragone? Also, I'm not sure the WR should be back based on some of the issues the WR, but I guess Nagy won't fire his whole offensive staff.

Gase and Patricia declared safe too. Dallas and Jacksonville are the two big ones that remain to be seen. And you could always get a post season firing from a underperforming team, though I'm not sure how likely that any of those exist. Pretty much all rising teams with newer coaches or very established safe coaches (Sea, NE, NO). Only PHI is the middle ground, but I doubt Pederson is at risk anymore. Also, only one GM firing so far, Allen in WAS. This could shape up to be one of the tamer black Mondays/offseasons. Which makes me think next year could be absolute madness.

I feel like it's said every year, but who in their right mind wants to go there? McCarthy for instance, sounds like he has interest from Carolina. That's an easy choice 10 times out of 10. Even if you don't have a competing offer though, I'd be tempted to just wait another year on the market unless I was a Vic Fangio type who was clearly running out of time. McDaniels is the name I've seen float around. Unless he's just set on waiting out Bellicheck, maybe that's a good option for him, as hell probably struggle to get looks going forward around the league.

Also, not sure that the results yesterday affected this, but 2020 opponents officially set: This schedule seems just about as tough as 2019. Houston about as tough as KC. The rest of the AFC South a bit better than the West. Still have NO and trade the NFC East for the South. Again, a bit better. Rams and Giants repeat. Odd that the 3 conference repeats are also the same H/A.

Yea Shurmur would probably fit that best case retread scenario. It sounds like Patricia is safe if Detroit, but if he for some reason was canned Darrell Bevell could become available too. Has ties to Childress.

The best hope is probably a retread candidate. Someone who has been a HC or play calling OC a few times, but is getting looked over in favor of up and comers. Like Martz was. Or someone who is such an unknown he's not even and up and comer, and they just totally luck out, thus they'll get hired away in two years.
