Seems like there could be a good converging of need and BPA in the second and the Bears can add a G and S. But I wouldn't be mad at a QB (perhaps Hurts) in the second either. If a guy like him does start dropping, maybe you can fill a need like G at 43, drop back into the late second with a trade down at 50 to pick back up a 4th, and grab a QB with one of those picks, plus still be able to plug another hole. It would be really great to grab a developmental OT as well. Just looking ahead to next year the cap is REALLY tight and that's before they probably make some more cap adjusting moves for more space thus year. Two top candidates to clear some space on the cap will be the starting two OT. But all the good OT prospects may be gone by 43. Supposed to be a really good WR draft. Hopefully they can get a good slot receiver in the 5th who can stretch the field a little. They lack top end speed in the WR group since cutting Gabriel.

Well the Bears don't have anything from pick 50 to 163 in the 5th now. They might move around, and Pace is always game to trade future picks, but as it stands, they could miss on that tier 3 QB prospect too.

He won't be practice squad eligible again. That said, they may still be trying to trade Trubisky. Or even if they don't trade Trubisky, they still don't have a 3rd QB on the roster anywhere. And they may only carry 2, but you need at least 3 in camp and preseason. And I just found out the new CBA allows for one practice squad player with any experience level. Tyler Bray, come on down to the practice squad!

Eh, sure if you dont like the prospect value, trade down. But trade downs from the second aren't necessarily going to give you tons of immediate depth capital. For reference, past Pace trade downs: 2016: traded down from 41 to 49 for pick 117 and a future 4th 2016: traded down from 49 to 56 for pick 126 2017: traded down from 36 to 45 for pick 119, 197, and a future 5th (they also added pick 221) Of the extra picks they got in the same year (117, 124, 119), they became Kwit (after a small trade up), Deon Bush, and Cohen. All decent picks actually, but only Cohen had a big immediate impact. Then you're maybe getting future picks which are nice but not filling depth needs now. Of course, there's always a slight chance that 4th rounder is an EJax and immediately contributes, but those aren't great odds either. If you look at actual contributions of day 3 picks, it's much more long term building blocks rather than day 1 contributors (outside of ST play). So even though they have 3 pretty big needs (RG, S, CB), if there was just 1 at those positions I liked at 43 and 50, I'd be glad to just fill only 1 or 2 of those spots.. He'll need to try and fill some immediate depth at those spots with cheaper FA.

One initial report said Bears pick up 3/50, which is just his remaining base salaries, only 2020 is guaranteed. 15.125 / 14.875 / 20. That would mean Jax restructured some workout bonuses and roster bonuses due and took those hits.

Wow, not in love with a 4th for Foles. I hope this includes some cap restructing where Jax takes on a bit more of the cap hit than they project to do as is. I still hope they draft a guy too. And at this point, if they can get a late Rd pick for Trubisky, I'd do it.

Lots of Dalton, Foles, Newton talk, but I'm not really crazy about trading assets for those guys. Definitely not at their salaries, any of those guys need to be restructured. And the FA market dried up pretty quick. Really want nothing to do with Jameis Winston, who is the best FA QB left. This is the crazy part of me talking, but I say let's just sign Blake Bortles and draft a QB with one of the first three picks. Yea he's been a bad QB, but I'm definitely at the point where I say let's just throw a few cheap bodies at that and focus whatever cap they have left on the other holes. Maybe he picked up a few things from McVay that will aid him in his next shot, and it's not like he ever lacked physical tools. Still need a G, CB, S and a few depth spots (2 S, 1-2 ILB, OL, RB). Obviously you'll fill a couple depth spots in the draft. But they have a chance at having a dominant D again, perhaps even better than the 2018 version. Throw some extra supporting pieces to help. Whatever below average QB they run out there.

Quinn is gauranteed 30MM, so it's probably over three years, maybe a low cap hit year one would save money over the $13MM that would have gone to Floyd. Seems hard to believe they have any money left at this point after Graham ($9MM guaranteed, probably some dead money in 21), Trevathan, RRH, Quinn, Eddie. Still have to add a CB, SS, 1-2 QBs and a WR to replace Gabriel. Deon Bush would be a good re-sign. We have no idea until we see structure. I think there was a year where the Saints were bottom 5 in cap space and made 2 big signings including the biggest S signing. But the guys y1 hit was like 3M. The guaranteed bill always comes due, but there's lots of tools Pace can use to inflate his cap in 2020.

Floyd v Quinn is probably a slight cap savings for 2020. Or it could be back loaded more and help pay for Grahams hit in 2020 as well. But Pace has been going full tilt on this offseason. Fuller and Trevathan both have dead years extending past 2022 with their new deals. Well see if he does the same with Graham/Quinn.

As far as piecing together a semblance of a TE group I wouldn't have hated it (I think he still out produced all our TEs combined last year). But at that contract, naah.

Well i couldn't have been more wrong. Dont like that value. If he stays healthy he may live up to it, but seems risky.
