  1. This should be good. Which quote would that be? Try not to suck obv
  2. I was gonna ask if that was the same goofy band at least
  3. I want us to win 30 before we lose 10 so bad
  4. i know it's a joke (and maybe it *is* the joke), but theo didn't get to draft until 3 picks later
  5. TIL ding dong johnson and smack don't know the difference between asterisks and quotes that or they just can't see that well I know the difference. it doesn't make any sense for there to be any sort of emphasis on the word it makes sense just fine. it's a goofy fun fact (i'm not big on fun facts, but some people are) and the fact that it was his brother is what makes it "fun" (slightly) i don't think it really needed emphasis but i think it's probably weirder to be taken aback or bothered by it being emphasized enough to point it out.

  7. oh my god. there are multiple people in the psd thread for this series claiming that the cubs play down to bad teams and need to stop doing so. they one of them brought up their 11-6 record vs bad teams (you know, a 104 win pace) as evidence of this. you know, the same team people argued was just pounding bad teams prior to facing the pirates and nationals...then they go 7-0 in those games and i guess they play down to bad teams. what the horsefeathering horsefeathers?
  8. another pic from karaoke night at stanley's
  9. One of the runs had scored before he came in. Poor wording. ahh
  10. [tweet]https://twitter.com/IowaCubsGameDay/status/732665117792305153[/tweet] i mean, yeah, two runs with bases loaded no out is ok but that doesn't seem tweet worthy
  11. Torn ucl
  12. I don't really call any individual untouchable. It's the big packages of guys who I think you can already count on to be productive (or more) big leaguers that I'd be against because I think this team has so much elite talent that good depth is actually more valuable to us than top end talent at this point (so to speak), since winning 110 games doesn't get us any further than winning 105. we have so much elite talent spread out around the field that i think we're better off having a few above average players we can plug in to fill in for any one or two big injuries. but there's not a single player i'd call untouchable in a trade for trout.
  13. Curious, would you be willing to do Russell, Schwarber, Happ, Torres and Contreras for him and his salary or too much? The only reason I say no to that particular package (and it's mainly Russell, Schwarber, and Contreras that I'm talking about here) is because of the whole diminishing returns thing. We're beyond good enough, so I think spreading out that many guys who can give that much value as individuals and the depth that provides (primarily in insurance against injury) is a better fit for a team that is already set up to be this good.
  14. wasn't he traded for AJ like 8 million years ago?
  15. So that guy on reddit was right
  16. Who?
  17. you're right who was the other weirdo that used ellipses way too much
  18. You missed the final episode of Seinfeld for a girl?!?!?!? Or perhaps worse: the date consisted of watching the final episode of Seinfeld?!?!? A little bit of both. We met on a AOL chat room. Divorced and 30 something or other chat room. We were about 100 miles apart. We agreed to meet in a public place in case I was a psycho, so we met at Old Spaghetti Factory in Riverside, in the bar. I was there early, and Seinfeld was playing on the bar tv above the bar where we sat. I was not watching Seinfeld at the time. I was working 2 jobs at the time and the hours of prime time tv was actually my 4 hour window of sleepy time, generally. It did not bother my wife that I occasionally freaked out when helicopters were flying over announcing that a child was missing in the neighborhood, or that I would waltz into my nearest Blockbuster and cut up my BB card with scissors when they charged me for late movies that weren't late. I am psycho, but she married me anyway. lmaoooo this is an nsbb deep cut
  19. OBP may as well have been rocket science in 1965.
  20. Most of that is in your head. Talking about prospects as trade bait when your young, talented ML roster is either looking or going to be looking for SP is just acknowledging the realities of what that might cost. Spinning my opinions into them being bad prospects is probably the root of all this, that has never been my position. Pretty sure you've literally said things along the lines of, "Hopefully, we can trick other teams into believing that too," when people have spoken highly of Almora and Contreras.
  21. I have no idea if it's the best, but I want to see an outfield of Heyward/Almora/some other good defender at some point have an awesome game in a big outfield just breaking hearts. maybe we'll see fowler/almora/heyward in september though i think almora/fowler/heyward would be more likely
  22. presented without comment http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-broadcaster-rankings-tv-intro-and-31-32/
