Awesome though we may be, I'm not sure we're any more likely to win any given playoff series in 4 or 5 than we are in 6 or 7. i think JUST MAYBE he wasn't being entirely serious
This is what I would do but for some reason MLB claims they need to know in advance even though they don't even know the participants more than a few days before.
Flip a coin. Just as effective. The game is still played as if it were an exhibition game. They don't play hard, why pretend it's important? Make it fun and take out the artificial "meaning". Why is flipping a coin any better? Why does the "artificial meaning" take out any of the fun?
I say this every time this comes up, but the main reason I don't have a big problem with the ASG determining HFA in the World Series is the fact that it used to be completely arbitrary (and dumb) switching off of years. This is, however so slightly, better than that.
He was solidly above average last year without accounting for (elite) pitch framing even slightly. What on earth does that include, if not pitch framing? I have him at 18% CS as a Cub, and the wild pitches look bad when you take into account the fact he's caught fewer innings than most on the list. The fact that he was worth 2 wins in 113 games and that doesn't take into account pitch framing even a little.
so the red sox are probably the second best team in baseball right now, their top 6 position players in fWAR were all theo acquisitions http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2016&month=0&season1=&ind=0&team=3&players=0 lol
if we got a starter that would slot in ahead of lackey (basically be one of our 3 best), that would be fun and exciting. otherwise, i don't really care what they do. they are well beyond fine how they are.
Just a guess but probably late 80's? i looked into it and apparently some teams (namely the dodgers) started dabbling in the early 70s, and by the early 80s it was almost universally adopted.
i don't care at all about w-l...let me just say that first. but when i looked at his espn page, i happened to see jake is "on pace" to go 30-0...lmao even if he could get to 25 wins with 0 losses, that would be the most bad ass thing ever, and i almost believe it's possible with this lineup behind that guy.
I'll start. Moncada. Now it's someone else's turn. Oh man, without thinking twice...I'd probably consider Benintendi, Zimmer, or Clint Frazier, but yeah Moncada is the one no doubter I can think of. why do you hate willson contreras?
