  1. Nah, that's a good thing. We need offense and cold weather would only make it that much harder. I'll take our offense over Cleveland's any day of the week and twice on Sundays so the advantage of warm weather I would hope would favor the Cubs. Well, that's selling Cleveland's offense a bit short, but yeah, I'd take ours, especially with Schwarbs.
  2. I'm not sure if I should be or not (I think I should), but I'm kinda really happy that it's going to be in the 70's for these two games.
  3. Lester will be available tomorrow, if not tonight.
  4. his best odds would be leaving the bat on his shoulder for the first 3 pitches and then if he happens to get to 3-0, MAYBE let him swing in hopes of a dong.
  5. That shouldn't really make you feel better. It shouldn't make me feel better that the bullpen has been nails when it needs to be? Do you believe that it's not important to prevent runs when trailing? Do you believe it's OK to be bad in those spots? And that the sample sizes you're referencing in those splits are all that meaningful anyway? They've pitched and overall they've been shaky. It doesn't make me feel better that they've been good when leading.
  6. I keep seeing things talking about the Cubs bullpen needing to step up, but I really don't feel like the bullpen has really been a problem. They've given up some runs in games that were already losses, but when they've needed to shut things down, they have. I'm much, much more concerned about the offense than the pitching. That shouldn't really make you feel better.
  7. I think it's either that or swap Addy and Willly.
  8. Yeah not sure where that or "Country Joe" came from. But he was a star quarterback in college. Pretty sure he put out a country album (song?) back in the 80's or so. every time i post this i have to mention the fact that i horsefeathering love the part where he checks his phone mid song
  9. Was West the guy Arrieta got into a shouting match with maybe in August or so?
  10. Javy's swings and misses this series http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161101/ff177ac7ceadc272297e9dd40fe9ce8d.jpg
  11. none. i don't think anyone wants you to say that or ever wanted you to say that I didn't ask you because I have absolutely zero interest in your preferences about what I say. you asked the question and got the answer
  12. well, if you completely take out the human elements and drown out the excitement in pharmaceuticals or rely only on numbers divorced of context, then yeah, they might be somewhat equal. maybe. Sometimes I have trouble telling people apart if they have similar haircuts or play the same positions
  13. that's just dumb. today is "win today and you can win the world series tomorrow." none of us has seen that. arguing that Game 6 of the WS is equivalent to Game 7 of an NLCS makes no sense at all. but you do you. In emotional terms or whatever, sure. But in terms of championship utility, there is no difference between a 50% chance to win a 7-game series and a 50% chance to win game 7. there are a lot of differences, actually. every moment in that game 7 is much higher leverage. while that's the same for both participants, it's still a hell of a lot different. and more was accomplished and banked to get to that point.
  14. that's just dumb. today is "win today and you can win the world series tomorrow." none of us has seen that. arguing that Game 6 of the WS is equivalent to Game 7 of an NLCS makes no sense at all. but you do you. yeah, it's kind of like the argument that came up when i said i would take being 3 straight wins away from winning the WS every year, and people brought up that the pre-season odds may have been a smidge higher.
  15. [tweet]https://twitter.com/rianwatt/status/793484212070412289[/tweet] as much as i disliked hendry the GM, i always thought he was a good dude so this gave me the warm and fuzzies a little
  16. That has to be the most poorly made logo for any company who can afford naming rights to an MLB stadium. two horribly mismatched fonts...the main logo font is like the most vanilla helvetica-esque lettering. and then a giant red arrow. it's awful.
  17. This is part of it, but not the entirety of the issue. The worry isn't that the Cubs are going to take a bunch of curveballs for strikes, but that they're going to chase them out of the zone. It's more a worry for the back half of the lineup than the front half, and it's more of a worry the better a breaking pitch that you have. Tomlin's curve sits somewhere between Bauer's and Klubers on the quality scale, with more risk of him being like Bauer than upside to be like Kluber, especially on short rest. It's also good to remember that for all the hand wringing about Tomlin, in his outing where everything went right he still only went 4.2 IP. That's probably the best shot the Cubs have considering the Indians can pretty easily get 4-5 IP from Shaw/Miller/Allen, but the other half is still an opportunity. Shaw has given up 3 hits and 2 walks for a run in 3.2 IP. Miller has given up 5 baserunners(including a HR) and multiple lineouts in 5.1 IP. In a game where the Indians very easily might struggle to score 3, the Cubs don't need to bomb Tomlin into oblivion to have the upper hand. I've heard that he abandoned his slider which was a really bad pitch for him, but I don't have the energy to actually look into it.
  18. yeah...and those seasons he's talking about collapsed because jay got hurt. and because a 10 win team didn't make the playoffs.
  19. [tweet] [/tweet] bulls highlights looking like an and 1 mixtape.
  20. most importantly push the ball in transition unlike someone else
