  1. I really wish I had the a/v capabilities to make one of those informercial bits of grayscale Mojo falling out the window taking off pants while a technicolor person simply steps out of their cargo shorts and goes on with their day.
  2. This might be anti-big-man bias, but I'm struggling to see a best case scenario for Bamba where he's better than the 3rd best player on a championship caliber team. Like Spongeworthy, when you get the chance to draft this high I think you need to spend it on a guy who could be Option A or B on a title contender, even if you fail miserably in the process. The exception to this is if you're lucky enough to already have that A & B and have the pick via trade, but even Boston and Cleveland would probably be best served by that approach.
  3. His name is Tommy La Stella and he just drove in a run you jerk
  4. Baez is gonna play a combined 100 games from age 30-34 with how much stress he puts his body through
  5. Willson if you keep trying to bunt someone is gonna have to bloody your nose again. There's 2 out and no one on and you are a good hitter, swing the got dang bat hard
  6. Confirmed we drafted the next Kinsler [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. The full Mark Geiger Experience on display 30 minutes in.
  8. this is all Sergio Ramos's fault
  9. I haven't watched as much soccer as some others, but to me that seems like an extreme fluke. Some of the announcers/studio guys were saying that you need to wait for the game to calm down to wave the guy on, but when he did it Poland had a guy waiting for the ball to come down unopposed with his back to goal. the fact that he played it to another teammate who first-timed that looping ball into no man's land seems like something you just shrug your shoulders about. The ref wants to get back to 11 v 11 and the play certainly wasn't goal dangerous for Senegal at the time, but I also don't fault the Poland player for trying to play that ball all the way back because he probably didn't see the guy get waved on and he wasn't in the field of vision.
  10. The promotional giveaway for game 2 is you get to pitch the 8th inning for one of the teams
  11. it was hilarious reading the last page and a half and then clicking to see the score. I was so ready for 3-0, 5-0, even 7-0, thank you for allowing me to be pleasantly surprised by an early deficit
  12. I believe so, but they didn't know about the double header until late last night and Iowa is in Tacoma, so odds are logistics would prevent anyone from being in town and available til game 2
  13. Yes, they're favored to win this group, and they could give a good game to their likely first knockout opponent(England or Belgium). They made it to the quarterfinals in 2014 and lost close to Brazil.

  15. Gyorko is 26th best fielder at any position in all of baseball according to Fangraphs DEF 8th best 3B defensively. Carpenter has a better DEF than Bryant. But yeah, beer league, whatever, etc. Facts suck.
  16. Sure those teams are only a handful of games better than the Cubs over less than half a season and they play in a league where more than half of the teams are not making any effort at being competitive whatsoever and the NL is currently winning more interleague games despite the inherent disadvantage they have in AL parks but hey who can fathom a 7 game series not going their way?
  17. Those are not good throws but they are extremely pickable throws, Anthony
  18. The threshold for an attempt is a lot higher than what Rizzo did. Under no interpretation was he trying to go to 2nd base, runners have a lot of leeway on this. Matt Kemp had a play earlier this year where he made a slight movement to 2nd and got tagged out to end the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeyP_6r41LE Kemp looks, sees the ball got by, and lurches towards second. Rizzo’s continued route through the base, while clever, does not have near that level of commitment, even if Kemp’s is only momentary.
  19. Pretty sure Rizzo did make an attempt, didn't matter because he was safe at 1st though The threshold for an attempt is a lot higher than what Rizzo did. Under no interpretation was he trying to go to 2nd base, runners have a lot of leeway on this.
  20. A-Rod knows the rule is that you have to make a genuine attempt towards second right, and that turning left to go back to the base doesn’t count?
  21. Ozuna hit a 40 mph ground ball that the defense botched. A dumb decision getting a decent result doesn’t make the decision any less dumb We’ve essentially gone from ‘literally anyone but Bass is defensible’ to ‘Bass pitched as well as we could have expected Strop/Cishek to pitch but I’m mad that he was the guy anyway’. I wouldn’t have been angry with Strop or Cishek there but the variables working against it don’t make me think it’s black and white. Yelling about which reliever gets the first out in the 6th inning of a regular season game is basically never going to be a binary good/bad decision.
  22. They need to get at least 3 more innings from the pen tonight and they play 14 consecutive days afterwards. If there’s a time to use someone like Farrell/Bass it’s in a situation against a slew of non-elite RH bats like that. Bass gave up 2 routine ground balls, a line drive, and a K, would you really expect Cishek to do that much better than that? They have one guy in the lineup that can beat you and that's Ozuna. Bass could have pitched this upcoming inning while not facing the only good hitters in their lineup. Ozuna hit a 40 mph ground ball that the defense botched.
  23. Yes im sure Farrell(the other RH outside the late inning circle of trust) would’ve been greeted with cheers. Someone from the “late inning circle of trust” should have been used with two on, no out in the 6th inning if 0-0 game. That’s the problem.
