My theory is that Ross is going to be a good thing, I'm optimistic he'll be able to help facilitate better player development and reverse the regression we've seen the last few years. I think other candidates could do that too(I'm not convinced he's clearly the best option), but Ross isn't just a guy. I also think that he's going to be less articulate to the media than Maddon, and as a result when he inevitably makes a few 50/50 or 40/60 decisions that fans don't like(every fanbase thinks their manager is an idiot at managing a bullpen), they/we are going to hate him wayyy quicker than it took to hate Maddon.
