  1. I'm rooting for 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
  2. About 40% of the pages in this thread are a long winded discussion about how clutch/unclutch Kane is. People were pointing out Kane's only goal in this tournament before today came in a 6-1 laugher. Oooh. So drawn from the same logic as the "Sammy only hits solo HR's because he's selfish" argument. Gotcha. I assumed that's what it was but I usually dont watch/follow hockey at all. I've got to say, the olympics have been fun to watch, though. Then watch the NHL playoffs, rooting for the Hawks, or otherwise, the NHL playoffs are amazing.
  3. I think they just had a horrible collapse. A lot of defensive breakdowns and poor goaltending. I think after the first 3 goals, they were shell shocked as they just piled on. I love that they just now finished reporting the barrage of goals for team USA Plus #2 and #3 they were on the kill.
  4. Some geniuses asserted that he wasn't a big game player. Olympics, playoffs, etc.
  5. Kessler just fed Kane, just for the hattrick chance.
  6. What is your monthly allotment of text messages? As long as we keep it under a dozen goals, I should be fine.
  7. A buddy at work asked me to text after any goals, or end of periods. There is now way he is taking me seriously.
  8. Ahahahaha
  9. Two for Kaner.
  10. Yeah sorry he's having a horrible Olympics. The only goals that count are goalsl in the third period of a game that is within 2 goals. Everything else is just showboating. Damn. Now unclutch and a showboater.
  11. So does this count for Kane? No? only the semi's? Already 3-0? Doesn't count?
  12. Ben Christensen was drafted after having the trouble.
  13. So the Hawks are still practicing during this break? I really hadn't found much to read about them over the last 2 weeks. I thought they all went off and had a vacation, or maybe had a week off and are not practicing to stay sharp for next Tuesday (only 5 more days until Blackhawks hockey!) Practice started today. I heard them mention that during the Canada Germany game the other day. Emrick pointed out that the team Germany players wouldn't have to report for 2 days or something like that. I'm sure that is the case for any Olympic players, but the rest of the Hawks (not the 6 playing today obviously) practiced yesterday and this morning. The will also practice tomorrow and Sunday.
  14. equally hilarious are the second wave of posters who come in and begin their typical "HAHAHA you guys are sooo pathetic. Look how worked up you got. Ohhhh mannnn you should have seen your faces!" shtick; after good news is reported, of course. And then the third wave of posters who comment on the first two waves....ah forget it...

  16. And apparently smashed the record books.
  17. Maybe, but these aren't hired gun all star teams like the men. These are established teams who train and complete together. This is the their ultimate goal in their sport.
  18. Good thing you didn't assume it was a bomb.
  19. Ok then
  20. Exciting finish to the Canadian/Swiss curling semifinal.
  21. 1)Babe Ruth from Boston to the Yankees for $125,000 & $300,000 mortgage in 1920 2)Nolan Ryan from Mets to Angels for 3B Jim Fergosi in 1972 3)Frank Robinson to Baltimore from Cinncinatti for P Milt Pappas in 1966 4)Prospects Derek Lowe & Jason Varitek to Boston from Seattle for Reliever Heathcliff Slocumb in 1997 5)Lou Brock to St. Louis from Cubs for P Ernie Broglio in early 1964 6)Prospects Curt Schilling,Steve Finley & Pete Harnisch to Houston from Baltimore for 1B Glenn Davis in 1991 7)Larry Bowa & prospect Ryne Sandberg to Cubs from Phillies for SS Ivonne DeJesus in 1982 8)David Cone to Mets from Kansas City for catcher Ed Hearn in 1987 9)Jeff Bagwell from Boston to Houston for reliever Larry Anderson in 1990 I didnt see the show so I dont know what the measuring stick was, it appears that this list may be more about perception than fact though. Example, Milt Pappas was not awful for the Reds. Or does it take into account that Lou Brock had nowhere to play for the Cubs since he couldnt handle CF. Or that it basically boiled down to Steve Finley for Glenn Davis because the Astros turned around and made equally bad trade with Schilling. For actual production being swapped the Bobby Abreu/Kevin Stocker trade may be worse then most of those. The Bagwell trade certainly should be higher Edit: and where is Pedro for Delino DeShields? Or anything from 1921 through 1963, seems as though the modern feel to the list (aside from Ruth), further reinforces your belief about perception.
  22. Delay rules make sense. The helmet rule doesn't.
  23. i would honestly shut him down for the rest of the year. Or at least shut him down until April. Whether its March, April, or October, just don't be in any hurry.

  25. That angle should block a lot of Theriot, so be thankful. :good: hopefully Byrd too. And the scoreboard.
