Alright let's look at it this way. We won tonight, that's huge. Another series win. Eyre is going to be fine, the bullpen stays intact. Lee, well no one knows. He could be back Friday, or he could be out a month or two. It's a big loss, but this is a real test of character of this team. Besides the 2003 team, I haven't been more impressed with a Cubs team in a long time. They seem to be doing the small things, finding ways to score, and Rusch/Williams/Marshall have stepped in and done a decent job without Wood and Prior. Sprains can linger, but Lee is in great physical condition. I wouldn't be surprised if he played this weekend (I also wouldn't be surprised if he was out for a few months). If Hairston gets most of the 2B starts, and Walker moves to first, our lineup is still one that can produce runs. Pierre Hairston Ramirez Walker Jones Barrett Murton Cedeno That's not a bad lineup. That team can still win games and compete until Lee gets back. I understand everyone is freaking out, I was too, but that's not going to help anything here. We still have a solid bench with Neifi, Mabry, maybe Sing? Our bullpen is still solid. Dempster is quickly becoming a top 5 closer in the NL. Our staff for the most part is keeping us in games. Pierre and Jacque seem to be getting their swing down. Things can be okay even if Lee is out.
