  1. Dear Lord, this thread is golden. That's like a bad translation from Fukudome's blog.
  2. (Can't take credit for the video) Nice. I forgot that he spit out the window after saying he would have some "speaks" with the ump after the game. LOL, think Mongo will ever be invited back? I've always debated if he spat or blew a kiss. Anyone else have any idea?
  3. omg i hope he calls back you guys are sooo gonna be bffs
  4. Especially when the 4s and 5s we'd be getting are worse than the 4s and 5s we have now.
  5. There's Will Carroll who points us to Burnett: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=929
  6. Wow, way to set the ethics bar high for yourself. These are athletes we're talking about here. It'd be different if I KNEW these people, or if my friends were cheating on their spouses, but these are professional athletes and I honestly don't give a crap what they do in their free time, as long as they work hard and are devoted to helping the Cubs win.
  7. Yes. She has explained as much in the past. people really don't know by now that she used to work for the cubs or something? it's at least hinted at in nearly all her posts. I didn't even know she was a she, so I had no clue that she worked for the Cubs.
  8. I think it's pretty asinine to not follow a team because of the apparent morals of the players. The sooner you realize that athletes cheat (whether it be steroids or on their spouse), the easier it will be to focus on what is more important (in terms of being a fan) - the game.
  9. Wow. If the Brewers get CC and the Cards get Harden and the Cubs get Randy [expletive] Wolf I'm going to start kicking babies.
  10. Or hitting a home run that's the difference in the game, like on Friday. Remember that one time Neifi hit a game winning grand slam in extras at St. Louis? I do. So Neifi and Kosuke are comparable now? Good to know.
  11. Cubs don't match up poorly with a Burnett deal. Though that could end up as a disaster in its own way I guess. He can be had for peanuts Why does everybody keep assuming that? What motivation does Toronto have to trade him if it's for "peanuts"? That doesn't make sense to me. They've pretty much come out and said they want to get rid of him and that the asking price isn't very high. They want to dump his contract. That and reports have said a Cubs deal would revolve around Ronny Cedeno, of all people.
  12. I said awhile ago that the Cubs would finish over .500 on the road and I'm sticking with it.
  13. The only problem I could see coming from that would be the potential for four 1B on the all star team. Berkman, Pujols, and Gonzalez are all more deserving right now. (Although I'm going to assume that Clint Hurdle will put Pujols in the DH spot) Lou should convince Hurdle to put Pujols at catcher.
  14. So wait, you are scoreboard watching? In early July??? For the wild card race?!?! Especially when the Cubs aren't involved?
  15. Much like a lot of us here, I don't think the Cubs are anticipating that Hill will contribute this year. Hoping, yes, but expecting, no.
  16. Scott Eyre and Rich Hill?? Scott Eyre has been good but hes on the DL for now but it will help when he comes back, so we may not need another LH reliever. But if your looking at Rich Hill for help your looking to the wrong guy I just don't think he is going to get where he needs to be mentally to help us this year, I actually do not want to see him back up in the majors this year it can only cause him more problems. No.
  17. O RLY? on the cubs' side: soto is way better than kendall derosa at this point is a little better than weeks ramirez is easily better than hall on the brewers' side: hardy is better than theriot fielder is marginally better than lee cameron is better than edmonds/johnson braun is way better than whoever's playing left in soriano's absence hart is probably slightly better than fukudome, but it's close the same mets that trail the brewers by either 5 or 6 games, pending the outcome of their game today? BP has the NL east at roughly a 10% chance of winning the wild card, so your confidence in this respect is unwarranted. How is DeRosa a little better than Weeks when DeRosa is in the .800s at OPS and Weeks in the .600s? Weeks is a terrible baseball player.
  18. I was at that game. Unbelievable.
  19. The thing is, if we're going to get Burnett or Harden, Hendry has to do it soon. We can't sit around for 3 weeks while CC is making 4-5 starts for Milwaukee. Ideally, landing one of Burnett/Harden by this time next week would be best, but we'll see what happens I guess.
  20. Sorry Rays, but I'd rather include Murton in a deal for a top starter instead of taking on some of your prospects.
