What does my education care? I just don't want Burnitz hitting cleanup and protecting Lee and don't care much about splitting up the righties. At least not enough to have Burnitz batting 4th instead of 5th. If you didn't get what you wanted, then say that. Don't tell us there's "no reason" to do it any other way. You're smarter than that.

Over the last month, Hollandsworth is actually out hitting Ramirez, albeit in BA only, not in slugging. Putting Burnitz ahead of Ramirez does split up your right handed hitters. Burnitz over the last month is hitting 0.305 / 0.381 / 0.524 / 0.905. Putting him in the fourth sport is eminently reasonable, i.e. able to be reasoned. Now, you can argue the wisdom or the value of that decision, but to say that there is no reason belies your education and powers of logic.

Here's my vote for a starting lineup. You can subsitute Cedeno for Perez, and if neither one of them shows any signs of life, at least Macias is hitting 0.261 / 0.278 / 0.319 / 0.597. 04/04 - 07/02 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Hairston 180 27 48 12 1 2 68 9 17 24 0.267 0.356 0.378 0.734 Walker 125 15 39 9 2 2 58 13 11 12 0.312 0.365 0.464 0.829 Lee 298 66 115 26 2 24 217 67 39 56 0.386 0.460 0.728 1.188 Burnitz 298 46 82 18 2 13 143 44 27 54 0.275 0.332 0.480 0.812 Ramirez 281 45 84 20 0 17 155 50 25 39 0.299 0.358 0.552 0.910 Hollandsworth 185 16 50 12 2 4 78 26 14 34 0.270 0.323 0.422 0.745 Barrett 219 22 58 14 1 9 101 36 10 25 0.265 0.303 0.461 0.765 Perez 293 35 80 11 1 7 114 29 8 29 0.273 0.297 0.389 0.686 -
I can't really isolate the statistics for the last game of a series, because that isn't a variable that I captured in the database. This table may provide you with a suitable proxy. This is 2005 only, since the numbers I kept for 2004 were nowhere near as comprehensive. Has anyone other than Dubois/Holla started in LF this season? Ben Grieve was the starting left fielder on 08 May (Mothers' Day) when Zambrano went the distance to beat Philadelphia 2-1. Has Blanco caught games other than Prior, Z for a few starts, and Maddux in interleague play? Blanco's 21 starts break down as follows: Zambrano 8 Maddux 4 Dempster 2 Prior 7

He'll keep hitting Burnitz cleanup from time to time, and that is a no-no in my book. I don't mind doing the lefty-righty split, to be honest with you. Burnitz has been struggling lately, but I think he's fine there. I could have them either way, but that's just a bit of a preference I have. I wish all our players were struggling like Burnitz. What an incredible experience it was watching the game yesterday from a skybox. Perfect view of the field, a TV set overhead (closer than my set is to me in my living room), all the food, beverages, and munchies you care to have. Only thing lacking from the total experience was about 1 clutch hit from the CUBS !! Could have been the perfect day. Oh well, here are some worthless stats for Saturday........
