I've missed those unbelievably obscure stats over these winter months. In that case, I should point out........ The CUBS were 26-32 last year when they allowed a stolen base. Go CUBS !!
The CUBS scored 7.28 R/G against Pittsburgh last year............. vs. Pittsburgh AB R H 2b 3b HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
CUBS 677 131 203 55 3 19 321 121 95 110 0.300 0.386 0.474 0.860 ..... but they never faced Van Benschoten.
I've been holding a grudge against this guy for 10 years now after his remarks blasting the CUBS for ruining Kerry Wood in 1998. His assertion that the CUBS overused Kerry in "all those complete games" just to break strikeout records was complete and utter garbage. The fact of the matter is, the CUBS babied Kerry in '98 like no other pitcher before or since. He had exactly 1 complete game in 1998, and only faced 9 batters all year when his pitch count was in excess of 109 pitches. Schilling is a blowhard who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Pass.
First and second with nobody out, and we don't score. Oh, woe is me. The sky is falling. It'll be at least another 100 years. I won't live long enough.................. etc, etc, etc.
What kind of stuff does Atkins have? Sounds like his numbers were real solid last year, any chance he can push for the #5 spot? He'd be a longshot, I'd say.
