  1. I think the Rox will blast 'em good, and then they'll collapse
  2. A Sori K will surely end it, and it is a fitting end to this turd of a series.
  3. This is the game where we do everything right and STILL lose. You ought to know the pattern by now.
  4. Amazing. I know, let's feed the curse mentality of our fans! Great idea!
  5. Your players come through, you're a genius. They suck, you've been outmanaged. It's tough, none of us like to go through this crap again but I just don't feel like throwing Lou under the bus for it. I'm trying to keep an open perspective. It really hurts to blow up like this but I keep remembering that at the beginning of June this club looked like it would finish 10 games under .500
  6. I don't know. I'm just gonna watch and see what happens. They'll probably play even tighter in front of the home crowd for all I know. I doubt this club changes its stripes and stops swinging at junk though. I can easily tell you what the DBacks' pitching approach will be. Just throw crap, let the Cubs beat themselves.
  7. CRAP. your saying theres a chance? thats all my heart needs-hope. f-hope. Nobody has gotten back to game 5 and lost. Interesting...
  8. Exactly. That's the type of reaction you see in the Little League World Series from 10 year old, not a grown up MLB player. If a White Sox or Cards player threw his glove down like Lilly, this thread would be over 30 pages long and ripping the dude to shreds. I'm just not hooking into this one. I couldn't disagree with you more. I don't see the big deal. I doubt a Cards/Sox player doing this would garner more than a couple snide remarks in the game thread. The over-reaction of Lilly to giving up basically a season-ending 3 run jack is far suprassed by the over-reaction on this board today, IMO.
  9. That's because, as we all know, the Cubs just don't have enough grit. It was grit all along. Lack of grittiness. Neifi would know what to do.
  10. I would post my own playoff diary but it might cause psychological distress to any children that might read it.
  11. My God, I checked and you're right. Can U say snakebit? How horrid. What is it with these guys?
  12. Wake me when they do something. I'm still waiting for my team to actually start playing baseball in October.
  13. After about the 7th or 8th time they synch up almost perfectly. LOL, that's funny.
  14. +1 I started watching the Daily Show, switching back and forth between commercial breaks. Once I realized the Cubs weren't going to pull out on that game, I went to bed. No sports team is worth breaking my own stuff or yelling at people. Yeah I've got work to do the next day so I'm not going to let a sports team ruin my sleep and thus my entire next day. Not worth it. Plus come on, we've seen this movie before. It's not like we're inexperienced watching the Cubs blow up. Been there, done that. Wake me when they're close to winning something.
  15. Sori + ARam + Lee a combined 4-for-27 so far. Lou's stupidity = our big bats crapping the bed, methinks.
  16. could be me, biut i'm thinking more on the train wreck side....sorry too lazy to look for an imagehttp://media.smays.com/blog/blogimages/trainwreck450b.jpgwell, thats effective, thanks Yikes. Yeah, that about covers it.
  17. Bulls season starts in less than a month!
  18. They aren't. We just need to find some way out of this nightmare! Help!
  19. Who really cares how many people watch. I am sure fans of both teams will be so heart broken. I'll bet Selig cares. And whoever the heck will be airing the games -- they care. Too bad the Cubs can't rescue their ratings.
  20. Bah, get off the guy.
  21. Just like the Cubs would destroy the Dbacks? The Dbacks are for real, it will be a hell of a series. OP is right though, it will be largely ignored.
  22. Can someone please pinch me or smash a vase over my head so I can wake up to reality where the Cubs are up 2-0??? Thanks.
  23. I honestly didn't watch it after we got down 7-2. Well -- I got lucky and flipped it back in time for Ward's double. Then I said to myself, "here comes Soriano to look horrible and K" Presto! Yay for sori-predictability! I think I turned on some documentary about hippees after that and fell asleep.
  24. Bullpucky. My argument does not require that Lilly had time to reflect. It requires only that Lilly have spent time training himself to control his reactions. actually, no. Testosterone + Nerves + Embarrassment + Hugely important situation + no self control = violent outburst Lilly has been on of the best pitchers at controlling his externalizing behaviors this year. Getting pissed off at giving up a 3 run jack is pretty understandable. I think the entire Cubs team and their manager are playing tight, playing not to loose, if you will. They are taking pitches they should be swininging at and swinging at pitches they should be taking. You just can't do that sort of thing and expect to win a playoff game. Especially Soriano, it is one of the things that got him traded from the Bronx a few years ago I think you're 100% right. They've been playing tight ever since the Marlins series IMHO. They didn't look tight in the Cincy series. They managed to win one game and then the race was over. They didn't have anything to play for @ Cincy. Right, but that one game was one of the best they've played. Regardless, whatever, doesn't matter. They choking right now and choking hard. It's too bad. I don't know what they've got to be freaked out about. They need a little perspective. 85 wins doesn't even get you here most years. They should be playing like they have nothing to lose.
