  1. What's the major league record for 1 team? Geez, that is ridiculous. 30 is a modern day record. And the Rangers' reliever got a save. Awesome. Hey, the winning run was.......in the clubhouse somewhere 8-)
  2. Crew immediately wipes out Webb's scoreless streak, how typical.
  3. Plus the callups haven't arrived yet. There will probably be no cries of "running up the score" either, quite different than, say, a football game. I prefer it this way, just let it happen, don't make a horrible loss look better by having mercy.
  4. what? I'm hoping it was overdone sarcasm. Otherwise...
  5. Some poor O's fan turned it off when it was 3-0. Hey, it's a 3 run lead, that should be pretty safe right?
  6. I want to hear some of the O's announcers comments. That should be entertaining. Like how about after the 2nd granny.
  7. ESPNews showed the hit chart for the Rangers. It looked like an exploding bowl of spaghetti.
  8. Waiting to see the highlights on TV now. Look at the headline on the Orioles site, "Orioles fall in opener of doubleheader" Hah, ya think?
  9. I would be leery of taking anything Terry says without a grain of salt. Terry himself would probably agree.
  10. Projects should never turn into Chris Carpenter. He's another good example of this. Carp was mired in mediocrity in TOR -- his ERA+ from those days looks pretty much like Marquis to me. 91, 106, 112, 79, 116, 85......just bobbing up above the 100 mark occasionally, and then tanking well below in other seasons. Then he comes off devastating arm surgery to put up this: 121, 151, 143. Mediocre pitcher, devastating arm surgery........then suddenly Cy Young?? Who else has ever done this?
  11. I don't think fanboi-ism is what was going on here.
  12. We should just play Murton and leave Cliff as a bench PH. I thought that was the whole point with Cliff from the beginning anyway. He's old, prone to break down -- the more playtime he gets the more likely he'll just wind up on the DL anyway, what good will he do us there? I didn't know Murton was being knocked down from future starter to LHP specialist anyway. He's not going to get better against RHP by watching Cliff suck against RHP every day either. Is Lou saying we're no longer projecting Murton as a future starter? If so, I'd like to know...and I suspect Matt would like to know that, too. The more I listen to Lou and look at this thing, the more I think it's just a case where Lou cannot accept that Cliff is finished as a primary starter. But regardless, I think we can all agree that he is. He could still be an asset off the bench, why not just let him do what he can still do?
  13. It's not much of a suprise, really. They have the top HR hitter in the NL in Fielder, Braun is a well-known power prospect. Then they have a bunch of guys who are usually good for some HRs, like Hall, Jenkins, Hart, J.J. They've got power in the lineup. They don't have to play against the AL East, so I'm sure that helps a little. I'm well past the suprise stage when it comes to the Crew. They're a good ballclub, not spectacular, but good. The real suprise is our lack of HRs.
  14. How the hell were they going to determine the amount of taxes until its sold? That doesn't seem right, the profits aren't realized until the sale takes place.
  15. There are plenty of factors that go into that. I'm comfortable just saying they're both HOFers, I'd give the edge defensively to Ryno, and the fact that he's not a complete jerk matters to me, a lot, over Morgan.
  16. I'd probably be way off base venturing a guess at the value. Really, it will be whatever someone is willing to pay at the time it is sold.
  17. I would be interested to see how those numbers would have changed if it was Ryno who was on Sunday Night Baseball every week, and not Morgan. But.......though I dislike Morgan to the extreme as an announcer, I'm not going to sit here and deny the guy's baseball talents. He was a fantastic player.
  18. I think we need a working definition of 'inconsistent' as it applies to baseball players.
  19. Awww. I'm kind of sad having to get rid of my Koyie Hill sig :(
  20. FWIW, Giants announcers *very* gracious in defeat.
  21. Cliff's Dad guided that one through :)
  22. Actually, half game lead! I assumed it was over, hehe. Not quite yet.
  23. Whew! Cubs win! Still tied for 1st place!
  24. Well here's to trend-bucking games when they fall in our favor, then!
