  1. Probably not since Valbuena will start vs the righty. He could pinch-hit and use the boomstick. ;)
  2. The Cubs racked up another home win and try to keep it going against the Pads in Game 2 of the series. The San Diego Padres will trot out Edinson Volquez sporting a record of 1-3 with an ERA of 6.39, while the Chicago Cubs will roll with Edwin Jackson who is winless at 0-3 and an ERA of 4.76. Can the Cubs get a repeat performance from Cody "Boomstick" Ransom? Go ... Cubs?
  3. The San Diego Padres come to town sporting the same 9-15 record as the Cubs. SD sends ex-White Sox Clayton Richard toting a 0-2 record with a 7.94 ERA. The Cubs send their "Ace", Jeff Samardzija who carries a 1-4 record with an ERA of 3.03 Go... Cubs?

  7. Player that doesn't mean anything this season so far: Anthony Rizzo Everyone has him. Does nothing for the standings except increase everyone's count by one.

  9. I was going to go all out for my debut Game Thread, but then the Cubs do what they did tonight, and have exhausted all my creativity. So instead... Cubs send Jeff Samardzija (1-0, 0.00 ERA) against... Atlanta's Tim Hudson (0-0, 6.23 ERA) Viewer Tip: If the Cubs have a 3 run lead or less going into the 9th, turn it off.

  11. perhaps he should have posted an update beneath the thing in bright red that said "Less than 12 hours left to the deadline!" Likely an April Fool's Joke...
  12. Less than 12 hours left to the deadline!
  13. Deadline is tomorrow at 11:59PM CST!! sweetpeteman - you still need to submit a Wild Card selection.
  14. Just a reminder the deadline is this Friday to submit your team for the 2013 HR Derby!
  15. A: Josh Hamilton B: Josh Reddick, Jayson Heyward C: Buster Posey, Bryce Harper, Paul Goldschmidt D: Carlos Pena, Brandon Phillips, Justin Upton, Anthony Rizzo, Joey Votto WC: Shhhh... it's a secret.

  17. Here's to another great season! Will we get our first repeat winner? Good luck!
  18. The goal: Build a HR team to collect the most MLB ROUND-TRIPPERS! Pick a roster of 12 hitters. The first 11 hitters must include: -- 1 batter from Group A -- 2 batters from Group B -- 3 batters from Group C -- 5 batters from Group D The 12th hitter is your Wild Card and can be any player not listed here. You don't have to pick a WC player on a 25-man roster, but you obviously risk not accruing HRs if your player is stashed in the minors. Post your first 11 selections in this thread. The deadline for posting is 11:59:59 PM Central Time on Friday, March 29 2013. No entries will be accepted after the deadline. You must PM your Wild Card selection to me! Do not post it with your entry. It WILL NOT COUNT unless it's PM'd to me by the deadline. RULES Throughout the season, you may make 4 adds/drops to your core roster of 11 players. The following rules apply to adds/drops: » You must drop a player to add another player. A drop/add is one transaction. » You must post your transaction in the HR Derby transaction thread. The transaction becomes effective at midnight CT the day you post it. You will accrue the dropped player's HRs in any game started by midnight CT that day. You will accrue the added player's HRs for any games starting after midnight CT the next day. » No transactions between the deadline on March 29 and noon CT on April 5 and also after noon CT September 15. » If you only post an add without a drop or there's any other problem deciphering your intent, the transaction isn't finalized until it's straightened out. » You may make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game and 2 transactions after the All-Star Game. These transactions apply only to the core roster and not the WC player. It's use or lose it -- if you don't make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game, you still only get 2 transactions afterwards (no hold-over transactions). » The player added must be drawn from the same group as the player dropped. » No clones. You can't have the same player more than once. » MLB rules for stats will be followed for any games postponed, suspended, etc. » You can only change your WC player once and only at the All-Star break ... so choose carefully! » I will be providing updates roughly once a week throughout the season. If you have any scoring questions, please post them in the discussion thread or PM me. Final decisions on scoring are up to me. Winner » Anyone can enter. The winner has to be a member in good standing (in other words, not banned) at the conclusion of the season in order to collect a prize. » Tiebreaker goes to the person who posted their HR Derby team first. » You can change your HR Derby team as often as you'd like before the deadline. Just EDIT your original post instead of posting a new team. If you enter two teams, only the first team will count as your entry.
