Would you guys trade Cutler for Manziel and a midround draft pick? My minimum return for Cutler is a Alex Smith like return. But it's contingent on having a capable replacement or identifying a guy you want to draft within the first three picks. Manziel and a third or something would be interesting. I'm not convinced on Manziel as an NFL QB though I'd defer to the scouts and experts if they thought he was. If we do get a new coaching staff though if lean towards trying to make it work with Cutler for another season or two until a replacement was developed. Those are truly atrocious situations ahead off them. I'm not on the get Jay out of town bandwagon. But my thought is, if it's not at the next major coaching change, it's not happening until the contract is over. As a result of this deal, Kyle Blanks was DFA'd. Thoughts? He's 3rd year arb eligible, but barely played last year due to injury, and was sub 1M. I think he's worth the claim. Worst case, is we waive him later in the offseason. Looking at fielding stats he seems passable in LF.

I don't think MLB suffers from a lack of fan exposure to the Yankees and Red Sox. No, they don't. But there's a large nationwide fan base for more than those two teams, which MLB could capitalize on with more nationwide televised games. Logistically it would be a nightmare, filling the left over time slots, etc. I just wondered if it's the next step, to actually improve ratings (without addressing the elephant in the room- making the game more suited to short attention span viewers who demand rapid recurring action).

With MLB losing ground annually to the NFL, in terms of fan popularity, TV ratings, and advertising dollars, do you think it may be on Manfred's mind to do away with the "superstation tax"? Allowing more national broadcasts of games, getting the more popular teams in front of more eyeballs on a regular basis? And if it's a possibility, could the Cubs be looking to get a short term arrangement, before launching the Cubs network (nationally) in 2020?

Didn't see another thread this would fit into. Not to pull a WSR, but I would love, love, love to take a flier on this guy and see if Bosio can't work his magic. Saw him a few times when he was in Detroit's system. Was never a fan. I can understand projections, but I don't think he has much of a chance of reaching them. Sadly, I think he is who he is.

Mind you, it was only 1 game, but I was not impressed with Adames. Maybe the potential is there, but from what I saw, his hitting approach needs quite a bit of refinement, which isn't that unexpected for an 18 year old.
