Given that American Indians do in fact wear paint (historically) I think it's closer to a non Japanese person dressing as a geisha. Still racist AF especially given the historical context of the franchise and logos but not quite blackface. Hmm. A bunch of my friends were involved in a production of "The Mikado" that made national news (2014). The company did it traditional, and the Asian community in Seattle did NOT like. One of the critics called it yellowface.
