  1. 1) So does the Tribune 2) So does the Tribune 3) So does the Tribune 4) So does the Tribune Cuban is a joke. He throws his money at all his problems. And he would definitely throw his money at has been veterans, playing the role of George II. Cuban would get involved in the day to day operations of the team and treat the non revenue producing and non headline grabbing minor league system like an underperforming asset. So does the Tribune. That's Hendry. The Trib isn't an activist owner like Cuban would be. Why do you guys say that? In basketball, your hands are tied even if you have money. See the Knicks- possibly one of the most hopeless teams in the NBA. The way to win in the NBA is way different than in baseball. The idea is to get premium players before you are at the cap, and when you get over the cap, you hope you have the framework for a championship. There's a reason why so many mediocre players in hoops are making the max. It's a different game. And I beg to differ on the Tribune. Obviously, they are spending some money recently, but they are a publicly traded corporation who's main goal is making money. Case in point- Steinbrenner goes and forms the Yes network, while the Cubs give a discount to WGN.
  2. Cuban would be a dream come true. Forget the micromanagement stuff, he wants to win. Reasons Cuban would be a dream owner for the Cubs: 1) Wants to win, and will spend money 2) Wants to win, and will spend money 3) Wants to win, and will spend money 4) Smart businessman, who I'm sure would increase revenue. No more incestuous media deals. Basketball is way different than baseball. It's really difficult to throw your money around in hoops, but not in baseball with a large market team with a huge fanbase and no salary cap. It's not rocket science. And he's isn't an idiot who's going to throw way too much money at overrated veterans. Seriously, do people really think Cuban would sit in the dugout and taunt the umpires and opponents? And even if he did, why should we care? I wouldn't. Too bad this is all a fantasy. The tribune has no intention of selling, and the reason probably is that they are making serious money out of this team.
  3. Thank god he's gone to the AL. Because, how demoralizing would it be to see him come in and strike out the side on us with his 86 mph fastball?
  4. How is this for a thought: Maybe Corey Patterson is simply NOT talented??!! Why is it that everyone is so convinced its in his head? Maybe he just doesn't have the talent. He's had one good year, in single A since he's turned pro. That one good half year in the majors turned out to be a fluke, and he was on his way down when he got injured that year. Although he clearly has athletic ability, so what? I can name plenty of guys in the NFL that can run faster and are way stronger. I wouldn't want them playing for the Cubs though. I'm not sure what his deal is, but the fact is he swings and misses a lot. And it's not always because he has one of the worst eyes in baseball (see how often he flails away at pitches 2 feet out of the zone and takes pitches that are right on the corner), but even when he gets a pitch, he just swings though it. Baseball is not just about athleticism. Hand eye coordination is just way more important. Corey just doesn't seem to have it. I've given up. I have given up hope that he will ever learn the strike zone- name one player with a K/BB ratio like Corey in baseball history who has ever turned it around? Corey is done. Anyone miss Alou now?
  5. I haven't. And I know quite a few others who haven't. Well, I have. Despite flashes here and there, he's never ever shown that he has the plate discipline or hand eye coordination necessary to get the bat on the ball consistently. He will always be a huge K guy. And the only way to get around it is to hit a ton of home runs, and draw walks. He'll never be able to do either. He's had more than ample number of big league AB's to show whether he can live up to his talent. His career is looking like it's becoming like Jose Hernandez's. And he's killing us with is 0-4 3K's at the leadoff spot while Lee continues to be on fire.
  6. Has anyone NOT given up on this guy yet? He's playing like KGonz. He has a huge hole in his bat, and has a horrible eye. Boras isn't getting a lot of money from anyone, and the Cubs aren't getting much for him either. Keep him, trade him, whatever. But don't bat him leadoff. He's a #8 hitter at best now.
  7. The Wizards continue to take bad shots. Except they are making them.
  8. They are lucky to be within 20. I think its the fact that they only have 2 more TO's than Washington.
  9. Can they make a single layup? How about an occasional loose ball then? How about a 3 pointer? This is not their night.
  10. I stand corrected. Bad defense!
  11. Washington is hitting everything. The defense isn't much worse, Washington is just hitting. Just like the Bulls were in the first 2 games.
  12. Teen Wolf is playing HUGE! I love that guy.
  13. Bulls can clinch the #4 seed and home-court with a win today if NJ holds on to their 20 pt lead over Washington.
  14. Tyson Chandler is a beast. To vulture GM's- Hands off Tyson and Eddy! Sign them both Pax.
  15. While this team has been holding it together very nicely lately, they need Eddy bigtime. Deng is somewhat dispensable, but without Eddy, this team will have a hard time advancing past the first round. I'm growing more and more concerned about Eddy as time goes on. The fact that they don't have a clear answer or at least haven't given any sort of indication is very worrisome. And all this stuff about arrythmias not usually being serious is nonsense. In an older person, maybe. But in a 22 yr old athlete where it causes light-headedness, I don't think so. I hope he's going to be okay.
  16. Bulls about to move to solo 4th in the East. Indiana is closing in fast. Bye bye Orlando. Magic Number for the playoffs: 1 (I think)
  17. Up by 1! 1.4 sec left.
  18. Come on. Just win it.
  19. Hope he's ok. In the Trib today, they said that he has had it before and it isn't serious. Still, it is scary when your heart isn't working perfectly, I hope he comes back soon because we need him. Curry is my big concern. Young healthy guys with heart problems are scary. I really hope he's okay. Any more updates?
  20. Nice win. I would have been nice to beat them with Shaq playing, though. I'll take it, though. The Bulls actually had an off shooting night, at least it appears that way from the box score.
  21. No Tippin Ben Gordon does it again!!
  22. 4 point lead, 48 sec left.
  23. Damn. Show the OT! Come on ESPN2!
  24. yahoo has it as a final.
