Prior to last night's game, USSoccer was taking heat for thinking that the wind blowing out would negatively affect the approach of our young hitters. I didn't think it would, but watching the game and looking at the percentage of swings they took at pitches outside of the zone, I think that's exactly what happened. Being beaten outright I can accept, but giving away a game you should win by abandoning the approach that brought you success all year is just infuriating. Who takes responsibility for this - players, Mallee, Maddon, front office? I'm not one for assigning blame, but if I had to, it'd be the players, as I'm sure it was addressed. Just a lot of trying to do too much. But they're kids.
