I'm surprised no one seems to be discussing the possibility that we're showcasing Alcantara for an off-season trade. He'll potentially be a top prospect with some demonstrated ability to hit in the majors, plus swiss army knife positional options. Practically every talent evaluator out there seems to be raving about him right now. Within our system, he's also unlikely to see time at short, where his value is highest. IF he can hit for the next few months, it'd be a classic sell high. Purely as an example, given the value the Rays have gotten out of Zobrist and the possibility that he's traded this summer, I think they could be interested. Mendy wouldn't headline a Price trade, but he could be a very strong second piece that allows us to send Soler as the primary instead of Bryant, Baez or Russell. Would this board riot if he hits well for the next 2+ months and then gets shipped out?
