  1. We simply cannot escape Ron Santo's dog.
  2. Looks like Maddux has a 3:30 tee time. ;)
  3. What happened? Thompson fooled Bare badly on strike three. Bare accidentally let go of his bat in his swing, which went careening towards Thompson and seemed headed to short had Thompson not knocked it down with his glove.
  4. I think that was revenge for Eck's attempted takeout of Walker. Also, I lolled at the replay of Barrett saying, "Whoa! My bad!"
  5. Rolen's laughing about Marquis' screwup, haha.
  6. Greg hates it when you accuse him of cheating, Tony. Now you're gonna pay.
  7. That's the answer I was looking for. Thank you. Botched hit and runs and bad jumps are a part of baseball. I don't think they are as common as stolen base attempts, but they are significant enough that they are counted as SBs. Catcher's indifference seems to subtract from SB numbers for some reason, although why is a bit puzzling. Barrett's career averages have been affected and influenced by these factors. It's not like a .200 hitter who goes 10-20 over a short span of time; those are outliers. Botched hit and runs plus bad jumps are not.
  8. at least 2 of those are on failed hit and runs - basically gimme's. so he's really around 3 for 16, or around 20%. And how many other catchers have nabbed guys on busted hit and runs? Should we look at their adjusted thrown out % as well? Don't get so defensive. I simply stated a fact. Don't get so defensive. I asked two questions regarding your method of stating these facts.

  10. Didn't Williams come into ST having lost 10-15 pounds? Hendry just seems like he's throwing everything he can at the wall to see what sticks. While it is early in the season, moves like these just smack of desperation. Granted, this is partially the result of some dumb moves in the offseason as well as bad bullpen management, but hey, they've been digging this hole and seem intent on digging their way out. I really hope this works out for the best, but at the rate things are going, the outlook isn't good.
  11. I have returned! ...and need a shower. Good to see things didn't collapse without me!
  12. I'm going camping for the weekend, so you kids behave! I'll be back in the saddle come Monday.
  13. Tonight I was at a bar that had maragaritas as a special...and they ran out an hour before last call! :x We compensated with jaegerbombs...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
  14. Knowing the Cubs' luck, Jock's hamstring probably fell off his leg, then strangled Derrek Lee to death. ...that's it, I'm going to Potbelly's.
  15. Man, David Eckstein really got knocked around in that scuffle.
  16. Yay 1-2-3 inning. That kid in the black hat has a future in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I tells ya!
  17. Nothing quite like watching two heavyweights slug it out.
  18. Meanwhile, Ryu is getting roughed up in his first two innings down at AAA. 4-0 Isotopes lead.
  19. MLB should really do something about that drunk 12 year old who wears David Eckstein's uniform.
  20. Is it wrong that I was hoping for Bare to step on Pujols' foot?
