  1. The pattern seems to be the Cubs' starting pitching plays like doody, then the bullpen comes in to put out the fire and the offense is good enough to score a few more runs.
  2. I was with a group of friends the last time I was at The Jake (or whatever the hell they call it now) about a year ago. I wasn't wearing anything sports-related and we were sitting near this group of over-makeupped women who were half beached whales, half brown-bagged, all of whom were wearing "Grady's Ladies" shirts. I was chatting with one of my friends about the Cubs' rough start and a few of the girls overhear this. The following takes place: Girl #1: "You're a Cubs fan?" Me: "Yeah." Girl #2: "Why the are you here?" Me: "It's a nice day and my friends wanted to go." Girl #1: "Ugh, God, I can't stand Cubs fans. They're such bandwagon fans who don't know a thing about baseball. Indians fans actually care about their team and are really knowledgable!" Me: "Who's the starting pitcher today for the Indians?" Girl #1 and #2: "..." About two innings later, the fans started doing The Wave. That just said it all.
  3. Honestly, Madison does not have its share of 9s and 10s. It was kind of rare to see them out there. yeah they're known as "out of state students" Pretty much.
  4. Helton's reaction made it seem like he had a pitch to crank, but juuuuuuuuust got under it. Good. :D
  5. Honestly, Madison does not have its share of 9s and 10s. It was kind of rare to see them out there. However, it wasn't until I left for Cleveland that I realized what Madison lacked in quality it made up for in solid quantity. There were a ton of 6s and 7s in Madison.
  6. That is, until the camera cut to her face? Pretty much, but I don't have very high standards. :D What can I say? Wisconsin had quite the impact on my life.
  7. That is, until the camera cut to her face? Pretty much, but I don't have very high standards.
  8. I'd scratch her lottery ticket. I'd play her numbers.
  9. Dangit DeRo. Hit that more to the pitcher's right.
  10. Okay. If you told me when he was first signed that Jim Edmonds would hit a triple with the Cubs, I would have laughed you out of the forum. :rotfl:
  11. Just wait until the Pirates call up McCutchen. Yeesh. Who's a scary young talent with the Astros?
  12. Jay Bruce scares the holy hell out of me. Nice K!
  13. I think the buzz Bob is referring to tends to die down roughly an hour after last call every night.
  14. Helton had a weird slide. He tried to come up short knowing the ball was coming in, and then step over DeRosa. However, that didn't work too well for him...or DeRosa, for that matter.
  15. Anyone know what's wrong with Penny this season? His numbers across the board are noticeably down from last season.
  16. Plus, catchers typically have a longer development curve compared to other prospects. If he finishes the season with those kinds of numbers, he's back on the radar as a legitimate prospect in this system.
