  2. Does Jorge come up and just swear at the umpires to piss them off or something?
  3. By all means Pittsburgh keep running out this loser while Taillon and Glasnow sit in the minors owning.
  4. Where are all the rollover to second base criticizers now?!?!?
  5. Just think every time Jake looks erratic his price goes down or something. Looking for a silver lining.
  6. In a lot of ballparks they'll come by and authenticate the home run ball for you regardless of the player. Depending on who it is, it can be worth some decent coin.
  7. Excellent write-up on the different 20 K games. Off the top of my head all of the conclusion Craig Edwards' draws were inline with my thinking on how impressive each one of the starts were.
  8. My favorite baseball podcast is the Sleeper and the Bust which is a definite fantasy podcast, but has a ton of real baseball analysis. I enjoy listening to Eno Sarris breakdown different metrics. They release a podcast on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday and run between 45 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes. The other baseball podcast I enjoy is Baseballholics Anonymous. Doug Thorburn is great when it comes to breaking down pitching. This one is usually around 2 hours and comes out once a week. I've been trying to find more and have sampled a bunch. I can't stand the BP Effectively Wild podcast and the FanGraphs podcast with Cistulli can be good but I can only take so much of Cistulli's standup act which usually takes up 2/3 of the actual podcast. All the other podcasts out there are done by people who are completely clueless and like RBI as a stat.
  9. Rosales is a shittier version of Cervelli but equally as annoying
  10. I kinda hope a huge 2 game losing streak before we sweep the Pirates makes some idiot fans go away because these game threads are mind numbing.
  11. I booked a last second doctor's appointment at 11 knowing I could be done by 12 and home by 1215. There better be dongs.
  12. Somewhere Harold Reynolds is bemoaning that rally killing grand slam
  13. I was asking an honest question. Since we obviously have a few sub-par individual defenders, I am curious how this stuff is computed. First off, Bryant is a plus defender. Second, we're putting Javy there much of the time and he is even better. Bryant rates as plus in the OF, too. Heyward and Russell are amazing. Fowler has rated very highly since they started playing him deeper. This. People need to stop regurgitating scouting reports of Bryant pre-draft like they're gospel and watch him play then go look at the numbers. It's the same people that think the Cubs "don't have a good pitching staff" and need to upgrade immediately to be a serious contender because they read an ESPN piece by some guy who can't believe proven RBI guy Allen Craig has fallen on such hard times.
  14. Zobrist has had one season below average defensively and he's been above average again this year.
  15. I love how Stone says stuff and is so sure of himself and he's way wrong. I tend to think pretty highly of Stone. I mean, how good is our team defense? We have some studs for sure, but we're also pretty mediocre in some ways. Fowler is average at best in center, Bryant and Zobrist are pretty "meh", and let's not even talk about left field. This is how good the Cubs' defense has been this year. Anecdotal scouting reports by message board posters tend to be a year or two behind the curve of reality.
  16. The Padres and the Mariners are the same kinda boring in my eyes. I can't explain it other than I find everything they do boring and inconsequential
  17. It's just brutal, ill informed speculation. But for about 2 seconds I wanted to punt my phone just because of the thought of that scumbag in a Cubs uniform.
  18. http://www.brewcrewball.com/2016/5/9/11638968/milwaukee-brewers-trade-rumors-chicago-cubs-interested-in-ryan-braun Didn't know where to put this but I had a small panic attack then realized there's no way this happens.
  19. Federowicz might be blind. That's the third ball he's struggled to locate.
  20. It's more of a you couldn't have ever been a hitter if your approach was hack at balls low and away off the plate than a nerds in the basement attack. To sit there and attack a hitter for not swinging at pitches that are at best 50/50 calls is a joke.
  21. I, uh, are you two actually watching the game? I'd be mad if any of my hitters *didn't* approach that at bat the way Soler did I'm watching and didn't have a problem with either of those last two strikes. The last one especially was meat. Someone who's never hit in a competitive baseball game would say this.
  22. Federowicz...does not translate to good at framing. Christ he's bad.
