  1. HE'S ARGUING BALLS AND STRIKES. KICK HIM OUT. SUSPEND HIM FOR THE SEASON.
  2. I've said it before but i'll say it again. It's awesome to have both the sides of a stat have winning records.
  3. pointless/obvious observation: Lee has been ridiculously streaky this year.
  4. What are some of your favorite quotes from or about baseball? Some of mine: "Baseball was, is, and always will be to me the best game in the world" --Babe Ruth "When I began playing the game, baseball was about as gentlemanly as a kick in the crotch." --Ty Cobb "I never could stand losing. Second place didn't interest me. I had a fire in my belly." --Ty Cobb "I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball" --Pete Rose "Baseball is dull only to those with dull minds" --Red Smith
  5. HOORAY for being home and having CSN again. WOO WOO CUBS GAME
  6. Then he refused to sign an autograph for a young kid.
  7. I'm sure he's just to busy to be online. The good news is, the next time Wood has a bad outing he'll find the time to sneak his way online.
  8. It's on ESPN2 right now. I've been watching it off and on, if only to see clips of Julio Zuleta crush the ball and get pitches thrown at his head every 4 at bats.
  9. You have some kind of sick vendetta against a couple players on this team; it's pretty ridiculous. First of all, never at any point did anyone, not even Z, say that Zambrano was any kind of spokesman. A reporter heard we signed Edmonds - someone who Z has had 'problems' or whatever with in the past - and asked Zambrano his thoughts about it. He had nothing to say. No one is trying to say he speaks for the team and it's not like Z is going out and trying to be a spokesman. Secondly, how in the world do you know who the leaders of the team are? You just like Derrek Lee and think he's a good player - plus he seems like a nice guy, so he must be the one and only leader of this team, right? I'm not denying that Lee is any of those things, because from everything any of us can tell he is each and every one of them. But the point is, you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. From the best that I can tell, at least from just watching the team warm up/take BP before the gates open - Z is if nothing else someone that everyone likes. When he walks up to a group they almost immediately change from just sitting there and stretching/talking to smiling and laughing. It looks, at least from an outsider looking in point of view, that he plays a leader role himself. Even if that role is only to keep everyone loose. Long story short - If you want to pick a couple guys to hate, I'd advise you to pick guys that don't seem to be genuinely nice and good at baseball on top of that. You'll have better luck getting your point across. Thanks for the personal attack, ace. But then you must have issues to burn. I don't hate Zambrano. He's just not your everyday leader. A leader on the field has to be an everyday player, who is not a rookie, plays infield and is one of your better players-so he can be there for meetings on the mound. That excludes Soto(rookie), Theriot and DeRosa. That leaves Rameriz and Lee. ARam is not a leader, not the right personality. So that leaves DLee. I consider previous 'leaders' Girardi, Grace, Sandberg. No problem, Jack. But regardless, whatever in your mind constitutes a "leader" doesn't really mean anything. Nor do any of our opinions on who a 'leader' is in that clubhouse. The point is you are pulling that nonsense directly out of your backside with absolutely nothing to back it up. You're telling me, then, that someone like Greg Maddux never could have been a "leader" because he didn't play every day? What about Pete Rose, he played the majority of his games in the outfield. How about Hank Aaron? Willie Mays? All of those guys seem like the "leader" type yet none of them (with the exception of Rose for a minority of his games) played the infield with any regularity.
  10. How come budhouse hasn't made his way back into this thread. I'm confused.
  11. Today there was some japonese camera crew there and they were waiting for kosuke to come out of he dugout. They had their camera all set up, then zambrano came out. Kosuke's interpreter was already standing there so big Z started "interviewing" him. It was absolutely hilarious. Oh, then Z went and took BP and hit 3 straight homers. All of them landed well out on waveland. Thought it was relevant since he's starting tomorrow.

  13. Oh my god. When that's your top 3 you know it's going to be a bad day. Holy crap.
  14. Sounds like a fairly shaky start. Which is not surprising considering he hasn't played in like a year. Glad to see him on his way back, though.
  15. If such a swap granted us the image of Fukudome taking a bat to one of the Milwaukee sausages with the might and grace of a samurai warrior, I would support it on a temporary basis. This is true. Randall really knew how to beat a sausage. but now we have Edmonds for that Awesome.
  16. I thought he was already on it? But no, they don't. The signing of Edmonds filled up the 40-man.
  17. Do you have faith in the cubs to do that? I think they give Edmonds every chance to succeed. In other words, much more than 10 ballgames.
