Do we want that? We could probably get a prospect haul for Fowler, Hammel, Motte and Montero. Yes, playoffs are the goal if the WS is the goal.

Pirates put the crap frosting on the cupcake with a 2 out win. Oh, well, we will go to Pittsburgh and win the one game playoff game if we need to.

2 Hour rain delay followed by the Cubs tying the game, going to 19 innings and losing 3-2 on a bases loaded balk with 2 outs.

Like many of said, the offense is horrible and it needs to be fixed or the players need to figure it out. Despite that, the Cubs have a 5 game lead in the loss column for the 2nd wild card.

The bottom of the 6th inning and the top half of the 7th sums up Cubs Cardinals perfectly.

Is this not a typical Cardinals inning? Two infield groundballs = 1st and 3rd.

Montero is the key guy that inning. They were giving a run up and he whiffed.

Castro grounded to short? We wasted another leadoff double? Rinse, repeat.

What really makes me sick is that Cardinals fans don't even view the Cubs as a threat. They expect the Cardinals to beat the Cubs and it's considered just business as usual. Even if the Cubs pulled off a miraculous, late inning win tonight, Cardinals fans would laugh and see a 9.5 game lead.

The Cubs, for the 1st time this year, look lifeless and helpless. The week that started so promising has ended brutally.
