  1. It opened up a spot for guys like Junior Lake who you would much rather see him than a 38 year old guy who won't be here in 2 years. Also, you get a guy in Corey Black who could be a valuable bullpen piece down the line. Pretty obvious why this is good for both teams.
  2. I have to believe that they'll spend money when the time is right. If 2 of those 3 prospects pan out, it's not going to be too hard to find a solid outfielder to fill in that 3rd spot. Now, that's no excuse for not going all-out on Tanaka who the Cubs have an actual need for.
  3. This I don't care about. Doesn't fit in our window and we were never going to out-bid the Yankees. Plus, outfield is not a need. This is a joke, right? The outfield is a nightmare of awfulness. Right now it is, look at our system. And? It's hardly like they have all 3 spots locked down. Ellsbury would give us a few more wins these next two years but in three years when we might actually be contending, he'll be 33 years old with a bad contract.

  6. It must be nice for the long-suffering Yankee fans to see a pitcher of Tanaka's stature.
  7. Ricketts is just waiting for that rooftop situation to settle and pretend he has no money to spend. Outside of the fact that the Cubs were the 4th most profitable team in baseball last year.
  8. We're getting close. Doubt he gives up a run though.
  9. Well Hammel was good again. He really wants to get out of here by July.
  10. This Tanaka guy is pretty good. We were valued at $1.2 billion last year and made $266 million in revenue. We should probably make a splash and sign him.
  11. The White Sox are getting every break in the book so far this season. Looks like one team in town is no content on tanking for picks to rebuild
  12. Tanaka gives up 1 in 8 innings and strikes out 13 and Kyle has another meltdown
  13. For whatever it's worth, the A's only once were more than 11 games under .500 in the 2007-2011 span, so unlike the current Cubs, they weren't embarrassing themselves in between playoff appearances or racking up awesome draft picks. The A's were also never in position where they had a previous general manager who didn't give a [expletive] about the minor league system and handed out horrible contracts like candy.

  15. Taking anything Theo said to the media seriously is a mistake. The guy knows how to handle the media better than anyone out there.
  16. Why are the Cubs using a back-up catcher as a pinch runner?
  17. This team is incredibly dumb. They take it after their manager.
  18. I think Francona is a great manager though. How much does he bunt?
