  1. I wish that was the play of the game.
  2. Maybe one of our three losses this weekend will be close. You know, just trying to think positively.
  3. Speaking of hard drugs, the official scorer might be on some
  4. Yeah, Lackey is about to throw a baseball at him from the dugout.
  5. Oh god, that says 19 strikeouts in 8 innings
  6. I can't believe they pitched to him when they could've had Heyward vs a lefty. Wow.
  7. As Hendricks is pumping 87 mph in relief, remember when the I-Cubs manager claimed he touches 95 mph a handfull of times each start? Hendricks rules, but that still cracks me up.
  8. I've had it in my mind that Candelario gets us most of the way to Hill; the A's current third baseman cannot play the position. But who knows, he might be the best pitcher that is actually on the market, so it's probably going to be more expensive than I think.
  9. Rich Hill had 10 more strikeouts tonight. BRING HIM TO ME.
  10. How in the heck are we going to beat the American League All-Star team
  11. So I just was checking out Buxton's stats...yeesh. That Bryant thing just keeps getting more hilarious. I realize Buxton is just 22 years old and has only played 92 games in his career, but his line this year is .211/.248/.367 and .210/.249/.348 for his career. That goes along with a 13/105 BB/K rate in his career and a 38% K rate this season. And despite elite tools, UZR has him as a below average defender. All this after he had a three year stretch where he was ranked no lower than the #2 prospect in baseball by BA, BP, and mlb.com entering those seasons. Again, still very early, but this could be quite the epic bust. He looked like the surest thing ever not too long ago.
  12. I'm all about Rich Hill right now. Move Hammel to the pen for August and go with a 6 man rotation in Sep if we don't piss the lead away. Hill's working on 100 innings over the last two seasons of being an ace, and could help soften the blow of 2nd half Hammel, Hendricks getting tired, and/or Arrieta remaining human. Go cheap with the bullpen like a Boone Logan, and tell the Yankees to horsefeathers off. I believe in Edwards, so I feel slightly better about the bullpen than I did a few weeks ago.
  13. Ehhh, the "centerfielder always has priority" thing, while technically true, doesn't mean it's encouraged to call off your great corner outfielders making a routine play in a very loud stadium.
  14. Ha, I think Hendricks tried to hit Cozart with that first pitch. Also, Almora might have too much range. I know he's the CFer and all, but that's Bryant's ball.
  15. http://www.statcorner.com/CatcherReport.php ^Update on Willson's framing. That'll do, especially when combined with a 1.064 OPS.
  16. I'm frustrated. But not worried. I'll only get worried if Fowler, Lastella and Soler are all back and we are still playing like this. Right now the bottom of our lineup is filled with a talented Triple A lineup. What's Soler gonna do, give everyone killer back rubs so they relax and start kicking ass again? Yeah, I don't know if I totally buy the injury excuse. The SP's and Bryzzo have been healthy. It sucks not having Schwarber, but I don't think people really include him when they reference injuries since he only played 3 games. Contreras, Javy, and probably Almora are better than Soler. So that basically just leaves Fowler.
  17. Oh thank God that wasn't wrist or hand.
  18. Heyward can only hit Fernandez and Syndergaard.
  19. What else did Sharma say? Mention any other names of what we may be trying to trade away? Or who/what we're looking for? He said there are still teams out there that love Soler, and there are no untouchables in the minors. I think he also talked about Doolittle, but that was before he was put on the DL. It was nothing earth shattering, but the La Stella thing stuck out to me like he specifically had heard something.
  20. Hmm, I know Sahadev Sharma was on the radio earlier this past week and specifically mentioned La Stella as a possible trade piece. I thought that was weird because I doubt he has a ton of value, and I think the FO really likes him. Maybe something is close there? IDK, that's pretty weird he didn't get the call. Edit- [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/749609672756387844[/tweet] That seems like a made up excuse, but maybe that's all it is.
  21. The Cubs drop to 7-7 against the Mets in their last 14 meetings. Yep, that's the only story line from this game and matchup over the last 1.5 years.
