  1. cubs would be pretty nuts to deal garza. right now, pitching is a premium. the FA pitchers available are bad. CJ wilson, don't get me wrong, is servicable, but he's no ace. and he'll get ace money because he is IT this year. hitters are a dime a dozen.
  2. Are the home and away clubhouses the same? I thought I remembered that the Cubs clubhouse is fine and up to date, while they just left the away clubhouse crappy and with things like bad hot water systems and stuff. I might be completely off, but I thought I remembered reading that awhile ago. i'd have to hear the exact interview. tho he did say marmol was his least fav pitcher to face. even though i am not a cubs fan, i hope the cubs get competetive soon, and i think fielder would be perfect for what theo is probably envisioning.
  3. Not too sure albert would want to go to the cubs after an interview he recently did in puerto rico. He mentioned that his least fav stadium was wrigley. then again, a ton of money changes things.
  4. buehrle is a servicable number 4 now adays. but he is not what you want if you are planning a deep playoff run. give him a 2 year as a stopgap.
  5. they have to make drastic upgrades because the cubs lineup and pitching, if they were to make zero upgrades, is not something that is going to challenge for a world series. you guys have all said it yourself how far away the current cub team is. and i can tell you this, if st.louis does lose albert, we will go after a big ticket free agent of sorts. be it fielder, reyes as some have suggested (but i do not want reyes anywhere close to the team). pujols will be back in a cards uniform. its just a matter of time to set the market.
  6. i would think fielder is a realistic option as well as a more attractive option for what the cubs are going to try to build for. for the cubs to even have a shot at albert, they'd have to make a lot of drastic moves before signing him. he is in the downswing of his career and he's looking to make the playoffs almost every year he suits up. right now the cubs cannot offer him that. fielder is 27, and if it took the cubs 2 years to make the playoffs, would still only be 29. i think that theo will explore albert, but i highly doubt he goes after him. he will remain in st.louis.
