    I know he was horrendous with the Sox, but he is a career .253 hitter who averages a hair over 17 HRs a year. He’s not Babe Ruth but he hasn’t been total trash either.

    He pitched well. Milwaukee has some issues with velocity which is possibly why he’s done well against them. I know he’s hated here, but he certainly pitched better than Boyd did. In addition, how does the history of 3 days rest playoff starts not going that well lead you to Ben Brown?

    History of 3 days rest starters and Boyd’s track record against the brewers is NOT hindsight.

    Brown has done very well against the brewers this year (very small sample size) and Boyd has done atrocious against them. Who would have ever guessed?

    There are good gambles and bad ones. History tells us that this was bad based on 3 days rest starters and Boyd’s track record.

    You’re absolutely correct, but I think the poor decision making and lack of acquiring any talent at the deadline has made people irrationally upset at this loss.
