  1. We’ve been scoring less runs per game in each successive month. Maybe this is the real offense.
  2. I would really like to see Shaw and Kelly switched
  3. He’s at least got a foot in the circle……
  4. That was poorly written. I meant “while he’s on the base paths”…..
  5. Can we stop trying to kill our best player on the base paths?
  6. Is it just me or is Phillys green screens behind home plate worse than every other teams?
  7. It’s much more meaningful than two games. You act like we’ve been going nuts over this, when it was a simple statement of fact, and frustration. Seriously. We didn’t suggest the team sucked, or they were going down and would never win again. Nothing of the sort. So stop acting as if that’s what happened.
  8. Neither of us suggested it was Kelly and Kelly alone. It’s a game thread. There wasn’t some super deep point. It was simply mentioning the team has been very poor lately against decent and better teams. That stretch (I assume to GH8888 as well) is starting to get a little concerning/frustrating. Nothing beyond that. Then we got told we were doomsdayers and hates the team. It’s an overreaction to a simply venting during a game that’s after a team we love is having a ****** stretch. End of story.
  9. You nailed it. What’s being said is they’re not good and we should be killing them. Jesus.
  10. No one got mad, but hey don’t bother with reading. If you think it was simply about the last two games against a good pitcher then you don’t know reading comprehension.
  11. No one actually said that. Geographyhater said since 4/23 they have a very bad record against teams .500 or better. 4-9 since then. You cannot mention things like this because it means you hate the Cubs and are only looking for horrible things and the Cubs to fail and Armageddon to begin.
  12. Actually you have no clue if it’s meaningless as both sides of this discussion can point to example over the years to validate their point. The Cubs offense against decent or better teams has been bad lately. End of story. No one is saying more than that.
  13. Right. Except the Mets are 20-12 against teams .500 or better. Including beating us.
  14. Not quite. Someone mentioned they’ve been bad against good teams lately. Really bad. I agreed. Does it mean we think they’re awful and will fail? No. It’s a small sample size but still exists and there’s concern that the offense isn’t quite what we thought. No one is saying the seasons over (well at least I’m not). Just that we’ve played very poorly against decent or better teams lately.
  15. I don’t think either myself or the original poster was suggesting the Cubs are not good.
  16. Maybe it is. Maybe I live with 5 Tiger fans because I moved to metro Detroit and started a family, and this weekend has me even more irritated than normal. Simply not good feels right now with our offense.
  17. Anxious? No. Starting to get concerned that we’re at a .333 clip in our last 12 games against good teams? Yes.
  18. Yes when Babe Kelly was going nuts as were several other players in the team, we were killing it against over .500 teams. It has been much much worse since late April as the original poster suggested when this started. They are not playing well against decent teams for a while now. Maybe it’s just a bad stretch, but it’s getting somewhat concerning to some people. Maybe we’re just dumb.
  19. No, as has been mentioned and for some reason you refuse to stay on point, the offense has been quite “offensive” so a weak weeks now. Beating up on bad teams, and not playing well against good ones. Beat up on bad teams and play .500 against the good ones and all is right with the world.
  20. No leg work necessary. The other teams are not doing the same. Saved you the time. Simply stated we’re beating bad teams and playing much worse than other first place teams league wide against .500 teams. No contortions necessary. Straight and forward.
  21. No, but we’ve been offensively challenged for the last 4-5 series. And that was the initial point. We’re beating bad teams and playing. Way poorly against solid teams. Much more so than the other first place teams league wide.
