  1. I really don't know a lot about the structure, but wouldn't it be something like this? Fleita: Hey! Let's promote this super whiz kid awesome player! He's amazing and will change the face of baseball! Just read some of the scouting reports I wrote on him! FreidmanEpsteinByrnesCashmanUnknown: No. Fleita: But, FreidmanEpsteinByrnesCashmanUnknown: No. Aaaaaaaaaand Scene!!
  2. MLBTV I've been tempted, but worry about A)Blackout rules and B) My internet connection SUCKS. We have a very old infrastructure that needs updated badly. They're slowly making headway, but until then, I usually lose connection about every 10-15 minutes. I feel like I'm in 1995. You shouldn't be concerned with blackout rules in St. Louis. All you'll have to put up with is Cardinals announcers during Cubs/Cards games. By the way I read it last time I checked, I would be blacked out of Minnesota, Milwaukee, both Chicago teams Kansas City and St. Louis games. Am I reading it wrong? I really can't fathom a scenario where I would any of those teams except Minnesota, is losing my ticket money if I choose to watch the game on MLBTV. For heaven's sake I WANT to give them my money but I guess they think I might drive 355 miles on a random night to watch in person if I can't see it on their (from all reports) crappy internet service.
  3. etc There is a whole world of Cubs fans who truly believe Ramirez is lazy, doesn't try, doesn't lead, and basically doesn't do anything but promote losing. I hate it. Well of course he is lazy and doesn't lead. He doesn't jump all over the place and yell at people on the field or in the dug out so he must be a shotty leader. I know because I watch the games and that's all the evidence I need. When was the last time one of these young players was quoted in an article about how they did something wrong and Ramirez set them straight? Ever? If it's not in an article, then it just ain't happening, apparently. Pack your bags and go somewhere that they value homeruns and OPS, Aramis. We need leadership and hustle.
  4. I agree with the poster who hopes Z gets the help he needs. I don't claim to know what avenues Z has pursed, but it appears he needs more than anger mgmt classes. Nice article in SI about Mental Health and Pro Athletes. The timing of it sure is interesting.
  5. I remember that game. The whole game was crazy. But as long as we have that situation somewhat resolved.... I have been looking for years for the '89 highlight video with the song by Friheight (I know it's spelled wrong.) I had most of it on VHS (Tape ran out before the video was over) and now after many moves and a car catching on fire, I have no idea as to the whereabouts of that tape. I have googled and youtubed and found nothing. Don't mean to hijack the thread, just got to thinking about that highlight video when I saw the title of this topic. Thanks!!
  6. In the book "October 1964" Author David Halberstam asserts that Brock never would have been "Lou Brock" had he stayed with the Cubs. Mainly due to the Cubs coaching style. Sorry, been a while since I read it so I don't recall many details other than that. Just sayin'.
